This lovely silky, natural White Suri Alpaca is from a well skirted fleece from my herd of Suri Alpacas. I have not processed this fiber at all. The brown tones in it are from our Virginia clay (they love to take dust baths) When it is washed you will have a lovely, silken white fiber to turn into yarn. This fiber has a staple between 4.5 and 5 inches
I have found that Suri can be spun directly from the lock or it can be combed or carded prior to spinning. It will dye beautifully.
Suri fiber is straighter than that of their cousins the huacaya. Think the Suri with the fringe on the top. It is a heavy fiber with a marvelous, silky sheen.
The lustrous nature of the fiber makes it perfect for spinning soft, silky, lightweight lace weight yarns
It will spin into a wonderfully soft, warm yarn suitable for all members of your family. If you wish to blend it with other fibers, you can produce wonderful silk/alpaca, wool/alpaca, angora/alpaca or any other blend you would like to try.
