Ocean Optics USB2000 Fiber Optic Spectrometer W/USB-LS-450 LED Light Source

The USB2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer is a small-footprint, plug-and-play version of our revolutionary S2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer.

Setting up the USB2000 Spectrometer is easy. The user simply installs our Spectrometer Operating Software and then connects the USB cable from the spectrometer to the computer. Wavelength calibration coefficients unique to each spectrometer are programmed into a memory chip right on the USB2000; the software simply reads these values from the spectrometer. What's more, the USB2000 requires no external power supply; it draws its power from the computer. In fact, the USB port can be used to power light sources that connect to the spectrometer.
The USB2000 couples a low-cost, high-performance 2048-element linear CCD-array detector with an optical bench that's small enough to fit into the palm of your hand -- the same detector and optical bench that have provided superior performance to the users of our 15,000 systems out in the field. The USB2000 also works the same way as other Ocean Optics spectrometers in that it accepts light energy transmitted through single-strand optical fiber and disperses it via a fixed grating across the linear CCD array detector, which is responsive from 200-1100 nm.
Just as with all other Ocean Optics user-configured spectrometers, users work with our applications scientists when selecting the USB2000 -- choosing from 14 gratings, 6 slits and hundreds of fiber optic accessories such as light sources, probes and optical fibers to create the optimal system for their application.

Users can also choose from Ocean Optics' complete line of spectroscopic accessories to use with the USB2000. Most accessories have SMA connectors for application flexibility. Changing the sampling system is as easy as unscrewing a connector and adding new components or accessories, such as light sources, sampling holders, filter holders, flow cells, fiber optic probes and sensors, collimating lenses, attenuators, diffuse reflectance standards, integrating spheres and an extensive line of optical fibers.
Serial Port Option
The USB2000 also has an RS-232 serial port for interfacing to PCs and PLCs. Serial port use requires an external power supply and 9-pin serial cable (USB-ADP-PC).
The USB-LS-450 is an integrated, multi-purpose LED light source module designed for use with either a USB4000-FL Spectrometer (or its predecessor, the USB2000-FL Spectrometer), a small-footprint, plug-and-play spectrometer that plugs into the USB port of any desktop or notebook PC. The USB-LS-450 is available for only $667 and can be used for general fluorescence measurements or as part of a Fiber Optic Oxygen Sensor system.

The USB-LS-450 module connects to the USB Series spectrometers via a connector on the front of the spectrometer. The spectrometer provides power to the LED and also enables synchronization functions and I2C communications.
In addition, the USB-LS-450 features a built-in, 24-bit analog-to-digital converter with an analog front end that is configured for a 100 ohm platinum RTD (resistance temperature device). This is particularly useful when configured as part of a Fiber Optic Oxygen Sensor. In fact, the unit has on-board memory to store temperature calibration coefficients and oxygen calibration coefficients.
The USB-LS-450 can provide 4-20 mA output via a daughter card, making it especially useful for process applications.
User's Tip: The USB-LS-450 board allows for software-controlled switching between pulsed and CW operation of the LED.
Our 2-meter Laboratory-grade Bifurcated Optical Fiber Assemblies are Y-shaped assemblies that have two fibers of the same diameter side-by-side in the common end, or the tail of the assembly. From the nexus or breakout of the assembly, the two fibers diverge into two separate legs. you may specify that both fibers in the assembly are UV-VIS, VIS-NIR or one of each -- a "mixed" bifurcated assembly.
Bifurcated Optical Fiber Assemblies easily connect to our sensors, light sources and miniature fiber optic spectrometers via an SMA 905 Connector and a splice bushing.
