This auction is for lesson plans. These can be used by high school or advanced middle school. These can be used in the home school as well as public/private schools. Each lesson plan contains: title, overview of the lesson, objectives, materials needed list, vocabulary list, assignments, and projects. Most lesson plans also contain content standards.  I will add lesson plans as I create them.  Please check back often.  If you want to purchase the new lesson plans after your initial purchase, you don't need to pay for and receive the ones you already have.  Just let me know what you have already and I will not send those again and I will deduct them from the final charge.

COMPARING THE SOVIET UNION TO DEMOCRATIC RUSSIA.  Students learn about the legacy of Boris Yeltsin as the first freely elected leader of Russia in the post-Soviet era.  Students compare political, economic, geographic, and cultural structures from the old Soviet order to today’s new democratic Russia.

CREATING A RADIO NEWS FEATURE ON ELECTIONS IN CONGO.  Students learn about the post-election violence in Congo.  Students learn about the increasing division between the eastern and western regions of the country.  Students research, write, and produce a radio news feature on these elections. 

COMPARING AND CONTRASTING VIETNAM AND IRAQ.  Students explore their various opinions about the War in Iraq  Students create and view Venn diagrams that compare and contrast the Wars in Iraq and Vietnam.  Students write informed letters to their senators about the War.

EXPLORING FIRST AMENDMENT ISSUES AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY.  
Students create role-plays based on recent situations involving free speech at Columbia University.  Students write informed fictional letters to the editor.

ANALYZING AND REVISING NEGATIVE CAMPAIGN ADS FOR THE 2006 ELECTION.  
Students share interpretations of television campaign ads for the 2006 elections.  Students each investigate one candidate's ad campaign in detail. Students prepare a script for an ad that features positive words and images.

EXPLORING 2006 CAMPAIGN STRATEGIES.  Students explore their various opinions on “red” America and “blue” America.  Students learn about the importance of the 2006 election.  Students act as political advisers for critical upcoming elections by creating thoughtful and innovative platforms for their various candidates.

UNIT – THE DEBATE IN THE US OVER THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS.  Unit Lessons (3):  Basics of the League of Nations; Disagreement Over the League; and Five Camps – From Voices of Consent to Voices of Dissent.  Objectives:  Describe Wilson’s concepts for peace and the League of Nations and efforts to foster American support for it; and Discuss the opposition to the League in the Senate.

WOMEN IN THE WHITE HOUSE.  Students explore the role and impact of recent First Ladies through research and family interviews.  Students work in groups to present a documentary portrait.

DEBATING BUSH’S RECESS APPOINTMENT OF JOHN R. BOLTON AS THE US AMBASSADOR TO THE U.N
. Students learn about the arguments for and against President Bush’s recess appointment of John R. Bolton as the United States ambassador to the United Nations and debate the appointment. Students write letters to Mr. Bush expressing their view.

DEBATING THE ROLE OF LOBBYISTS IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.  Students share opinions about the degree to which money influences politics.  Students debate the role of lobbyists in Washington.  Students write letters to their representatives in Congress expressing their point of view on the issues.

CREATING POLITICAL CARTOONS THAT SHOW AND TELL.   Students explore the power of images through political cartoons, particularly in light of the Danish caricatures of Muhammad that have incited violence around the world.  Students create their own original artwork to submit to an appropriate publication.

CREATING A PRESIDENTIAL REPORT CARD ON CURRENT DOMESTIC ISSUES.  Students will critically examine six of the key issues in President Bush’s domestic agenda.  Upon further explanation, students will create a report card for President Bush and his administration on each of the selected topics.

EXAMINING THE NOMINATIONS TO THE SUPREME COURT.  Students will learn about nominations of federal appeals court judges to the Supreme Court. Students will compare coverage of the nomination to analyze the multiple ways in which to cover a story.
