Hello and thank you for looking!
Up for sale is a vintage early/mid 1960's 'Queen of the Sea' battery operated tinplate ocean liner, made in Japan by Modern Toys / Masudaya. Among the most attractive and well-know classic 60's Japanese tin toys.
This really beautiful toy, measures an attractive 52,5 cm. length, and is about 11.5 cm. wide, is mainly made from lithographed tinplate, with small plastic details, such as lifeboats., is battery operated, featuring 'bump & go' action, top deck lights, originally a rotating radar antenna and smoke coming out of funnels.
The litho artwork on this toy is absolutely stunning, since it actually accomplished the rather difficult task, of making such a large toy still aper to be cute.
As far as condition goes, the ship has been lightly played with, so some light and thankfully small marks of playwear are evident along the hull, and a slight bump, too. The original radar antenna, as well as the plastic lifeboat rows have gone missing, but thankfully, the antenna can be found (thanks to a few professionals on ebay that provide quality reproductions of this part), the two plastic masts are also missing from starboard, as well as probably it appears to something has gone missing from the top deck lights. Base is very clean, with only a minor mark of deterioration right above the battery cavity, and that's about it. On the other hand, all remaining parts are perfectly intact, colors still retain their brightness, rudder and propeller are excellent, and the vast majority of the ship's surface, is very, very clean, and displays really well.
Regarding functionality, the lights work fine, but the bump & go action doesn't really run around, unfortunately.
By all aspect, it's still a wonderful example of this really stunning and beautiful toy! It's also hard to find today, in any condition. Don't miss out on this one!
Thank you for looking! Good luck to those bidding!
