Works great !
I had a bent up ring... I was able to put it on the mandrel and get it back to being round utilizing the nylon faced hammer, which I think is plenty sufficient for the job. Besides being a mandrel and hammer for repairs, it's also is a great ring sizer. 👍

Mandrel, yes.... Nylon mallet, not so much.
I am pleased with the steel ring mandrel. This item, being of very simple, tried and true construction leaves little to chance in regard to quality. The worst case scenario is that the measurements etched into the mandrel are inaccurate, which I am pleased to report is not the case with mine... The nylon mallet is, all together, a different story. I thought I was getting a bargain by receiving both a mandrel and a mallet for about the same price as I had found other mandrels alone. As it turns out, I'd be in the same situation if I had ordered one of the other mandrels that were not packaged as a set that included a mallet, in need of a quality mallet. I was excited to get started in my new hobby of coin ring making. I put my new tools to use the very evening that I received them in the ... I am pleased with the steel ring mandrel. Mandrel is good...hammer not so much
The mandrel is steel and seems to be fine to work with. The hammer however is a cheap plastic head and first time I used it to form a coin ring on the mandrel it shattered. Wear eye protection and beware of this. Not made well at all. I could care less about the hammer as I have plenty of my own. mandrel is worth the money.
