Ok...I bought this boat in May 2014, in hopes that it would be my "final resting place" after I retire next year. Well, the seller was not completely forthcoming with the details of the vessel. I was not too bright, in that, I didn't have a survey! I saw what appeared to be a fairly easy boat to handle, and it is, but didn't know what I was getting into; i.e., it's a planked wooden boat. I haven't the patience, know how or resources to care for her.

Here's the thing; there are a few small places where water is seeping in. At the chine log / forward bulkhead and a couple other smaller spots, that I can see. She is docked in brackish water and I have been told, by the seller and a couple others, that she needs to be put in salt water to see if that will do the pickling thing. I already am paying slip fees and can't afford to move to a more expensive marina nearer the ocean. I am a truck driver and can't leave her moored somewhere.

So, this auction is my decision....as much as it pains me because, although I am in love with her, I just can't chew what I've bitten off.

Structurally, she is sound. The bilge always has water, as you know a planked vessel will. I added a solar system, which will not convey in the sale, and the battery does a great job keeping the two pumps going. (Not that they are constantly running. They aren't)

Built in 1995 by Rudy Sechez out of pressure treated southern pine with Cypress framing and backbone. Topside decks are marine ply and glassed over and painted. No water leaks from overhead....and there has been alot of rain in South Florida this Summer.

Old fashioned rigged with old style blocks and tackle. All sails are hank on, and that includes; main, 170 jib, storm, stay and asymmetrical spinnaker. Sail covers too. Cypress mast and boom. Stainless standing rigging. Some running should be replaced soon. The mast stays are treated with that black tar looking stuff...and at the bottom 2-3 feet are wrapped with nylon cord. There is alot of misc lengths of line stashed about. Everything about the boat is simple and old fashioned. If it breaks you won't have to spend a fortune. There is no electrical "anything" except the engine ignition. All lighting, including steaming lights, are old brass lanterns. Most need new glass! I was going to install basic wiring and go, somewhat, modern.

Ground tackle includes a heavy storm, two 35 lb Danforths and three different lengths of 3/8" chain. I would say about 100 feet total. There is a very long length of 3/4" rode in the chain locker that I have yet to pull out. 

***I'm not really all that versed on sailing terms so bear with me****

36 hp Volvo that runs great, hydraulic transmission, brass three blade prop. Cutless is new and is dripless.

Plenty of room aft to work on and around the engine. There is a built in propane tank and system pressurizing tank also. Origo two burner, with oven, and heater use the propane. Both need a good cleaning. There is an aluminum water tank that holds about 70 gallons. All tankage is aft and aluminum.

Layout: far forward is chain locker, then V berth with three layers of stowage each side, Coach begins at aft end of V and there is an overhead shelf, then opposite each other are 6'6" settees with the mast and roof support between and a double drop leave table..
aft and to starboard is the galley with stove, one big sink and counter top..to port is, just installed, very large custom ice box, then aft is a bathing sitz bath (not plumbed). Then the companionway stairs. Aft and port is lots of stowage and then a good sized room for shop or whatever. I thought to remove the Volvo and build an aft stateroom. I was going to add an outboard bracket on the aft starboard quarter. Oh well... Stowage under and behind all seating.

There is a steering vane mounted on the boomkin and it appears all is present except the top paddle. I think it's a Monitor.

The original builder, Rudy, came to do some repairs before I bought her. Wish I had known that and called him before buying,. Anyway, I did call him last month. He replaced three planks and the aft 3" of the rudder that had rot. He told me that he saw some fasteners that could use replacementing and that "at the next haulout you should consider replacing the ones below the waterline." (I watched some videos on that procedure and don't think I can do it and I don't have the funds to pay someone) He said, "Structurally, the boat is in good shape and is worth the effort." I talked to the woman I bought it from and she said, "That's crazy, it just needs to be taken to salt water. There's nothing wrong with the fasteners." She and her husband owned the boat since 2005 and sailed her extensively. As did Rudy and his wife before. But the vessel was on the hard for nine months before I bought her and had not been used for a couple years prior to that....

All in all, you have to know and love a wooden boat to buy this one. Rudy said my asking price "is well worth it." He has a boat repair business in the Florida panhandle so, if you want to, you can look him up, call and ask him what he thinks.

Will sell this vessel AS-IS and WHERE-IS, with no warrantee expressed or implied. 

Maybe I will just keep listing until the "right" person sees it.....I will not do what I said before..."call fire department." I like this boat too much! I will just haul her out, let her dry, replace some fasteners, soak with C.P.E.S. and then glass from waterline to the keel. She is worth it! I've had alot of calls....will you take payments; will you remove engine and sell cheaper; I'll call you someday if it doesn't sell; can I rent the boat as a livaboard. One guy wants to put in a private lake for kids as a pirate ship...that sounded fun. Don't know yet what I will do.
