A really good "kind of sleeper" Smashing Pumpkins album.

A really good "kind of sleeper" Smashing Pumpkins album. You need to give it a couple of listens to really appreciate it. I really like the Pumpkins, have all their more classic CDs, and I'm glad I added this one to my collection. It has a little bit of metal mixed in with the traditional Pumpkins sound. I can't wait to see them live next week!

  • Billy is Back

In this "last" album of the orginal Four Pumpkins, Billy goes a bit psychedelic with the idea that this and the next album would "fit" into an animation of sorts like Pink Floyd's, "The Wall". The record label (Virgin?) wouldn't sign off on the following album and it went out on the internet...free to everyone instead. Then they broke up. This EP is more for the true fan while still alittle grandiose for some, but far from the lullaby cuts of Adore, the previous album. I give 3 out of 5 stars for this one.

  • Machina: The Machines of God - Smashing Pumpkins CD

I'm simply a music idiot. I previously had only limited exposure to Smashing Pumpkins but liked what I'd heard. "Meloncholy" was the only material of theirs I had in my collection and I hadn't even listened to it. Had cable tv music tuned in during recent workout and overheard the last verses of "Perfect" and later sought the internet to relisten. The internet exposed me to "Try, Try, Try" - a most 'perfect' S/P tune and others I hadn't heard. I immediately thought to add more S/P to my collection and researched their discography. "Try" from the Machina release was a must have and I was supremely pleased with the arrangement and selection of the entire work. While I awaited my half-bay purchase, I enquired of a friend if he had any S/P I could listen to. He referenced that he hadn't heard ...

  • Smash 'em

The S-Pumpikns are truly unique - a good album - but not their best Track listing 1. Everlasting Gaze, The 2. Raindrops & Sunshowers 3. Stand Inside Your Love 4. I Of The Mourning 5. Sacred And Profane, The 6. Try, Try, Try 7. Heavy Metal Machine 8. This Time 9. Imploding Voice, The 10. Glass And The Ghost Children 11. Wound 12. Crying Tree Of Mercury, The 13. With Every Light 14. Blue Skies Bring Tears 15. Age Of Innocence

  • machina;the machines of god- smashing pumpkins

I've always been a lukewarm fan of the pumpkins, but machina is excellent from start to finish, unlike the overrated retro siamese dream and the sprawling half-baked mess that is mellon collie. Kudos to new bassist and hottie melissa auf du marr (love ya missy). Musically, this combines the best aspects of the keyboard dominated adore with the guitar roar of siamese dream. Billy Corgan's jagger/dr.john/lowell george channelled vocals never sounded better. This is the one smashing pumpkins release i can recommend to a newcomer unequivacably.
