I am a 40 year Studebaker collector and have enjoyed taking this little Lark to local car shows and Studebaker Drivers Club meets where she looks great lined up right next to the trophy winners. (Picture number one was taken at this year's SouthWest Zone Meet of SDC this May.)

I have had to move and have lost some storage space so sweet "Lucy Lark" needs a new home. One family owned this car until I purchased it last year. The original owners were elderly and I purchased the car from the grandson who is now in his 60s. It has never been completely restored but many repairs have been done including paint, chrome, carpet and upholstery by the original owners.

Everything works. The turn signals don't cancel though, and my wife wants everyone to know that she doesn't come with the car to remind you to turn them off like she does me! It has a strong running 259 V-8 and a smooth and positive shifting Flight-o-matic three speed automatic transmission that operates as designed and starts from a stop in second gear unless you have it in Low. It runs and drives beautifully and steers very easily for a car without power steering. It runs cool in hot weather. It is equipped wih four original style lap seat belts. I like my Studebakers stock and as original as possible so every effort was made to that end. I have a reproduction of the original production order for the car showing its final assembly date as February 11, 1960 (it's in Aquarius) and that it was shipped to Jamestown North Dakota. The original "Lloyd's Motors -Jamestown" dealer plate is affixed above the rear license plate. The car spent most of its life garaged in the Seattle area...

In the last year/3000 miles, the following has been done:

4) 205/75 x 15 Coker classic wide white wall radial tires (may be 200 miles on them now ...)

wheel alignment

complete dual exhaust

control arm bushings

fuel pump

rebuilt carburetor

brake master cylinder

4 wheel cylinders

all three brake hoses

all brake springs

4 shock absorbers

original Studebaker accessory door mirror

original Studebaker accessory cigarette lighter

complete tune-up ( plugs, wires, points, condenser, rotor, cap)

valve guide seals & valve adjustment    (They're a little clattery right now...Valve adjusting is not my favorite thing...I'm sure professional Stude mechanics like the guys at Studebaker's West can set them better than I... )

upper and lower radiator hoses

thermostat

fan belt

4 correct 1960 Studebaker full wheel covers ( had small hubcaps )

correct Studebaker front license plate bracket ( so the plate fits in the middle of the bumper )

original and correct Studebaker backup lights

throttle boot

trunk liner and spare tire cover

park lever ("pawl")

correct, year-of-manufacture vintage California license plates (...these will only go to a CA buyer...)

.... I'm probably forgetting some things ...

This is a fine example of Studebaker's first and cutest compact car ... not a show winner but very, very nice ....a little too nice to be a daily driver, unless you can avoid parking lots and parking under trees! The engine is presentable but not super detailed and it has never been out of the car.  The previous owner said that when he did the bodywork before painting, he removed the front clip and found someone who works in lead to repair the usual front fender rust. I find no evidence of rust anywhere else - the car has completely solid original floors. At that time the inner fenders were painted a color he thought he might like to paint the whole car but then he decided it was too pink.  Strangely, he never refinished the inner fenders in the final color of his choice. The car was refinished a shade lighter than the original Sandalwood beige which is still visible on the lower part of the firewall.  The seats are reupholstered in the original style and as close to the original material as possible.  The door panels are original and are very nice with the exception of some minor water staining on the left rear door panel and a bullet hole in the right front. ( More on that later!) The headliner is original and perfect! The windlacing has been replaced as well as the sun visors and all door and trunk rubber. The dash pad is not perfect but very, very nice with the exception of another bullet hole near the radio. The radio has been replaced with another original Studebaker radio that has been modified to receive FM. The antenna on the left front fender is original Studebaker equipment.  Now, regarding the bullet holes, as the original owner's grandson tells it, as a youth, he, or at least the car, was involved in an altercation near a bar involving alcohol and a shotgun.  The back window was shot out and there was damage to the windshield and the interior. The windshield and the back glass were replaced as was the glove compartment door and the radio. There remains a small bullet hole in the dash pad under the radio and two small holes in the right front door panel. I bought a vinyl repair kit to repair these holes but my wife talked me out of it - she likes cars with interesting stories! I am guessing that the crack in the windshield occurred on installation.  An auto glass shop has doctored the end of the crack so it won't grow. I have tried to photograph it closeup and in a light that shows it the most. There is some less than fine bodywork on the right rear fender dogleg that I also tried to photograph in it's most unflattering light - see pictures. The paint is probably about as good as Studebaker painted cars and there are some touch-ups here and there. I believe it is single stage enamel. All the chrome is like new! The car marks its spot with, for a Studebaker, a very minor oil leak. I know this car and Studebakers in general very well so feel free to contact me with any questions! I can send you more pictures directly if you like.  We Love Lucy and want to see her get a good home! My name is Peter and I can be reached at 707-987-0254 extension 22, a land line number that rings at my shop and my home. Inspections are welcome! The car is offered for sale locally and if sold I will end the auction. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due from the winning bidder within 48 hours of the end of the auction via Pay-Pal, cashiers check or direct deposit. The balance must be paid within seven days and the vehicle picked up within two weeks of the end of the auction. Pickup/shipping arrangements are the buyers responsibility but I can assist in finding a shipper and in loading. Now, who will be the first to bid???
