"Tom's Little Maid", author not shown.  No copyright date but the consensus is 1880.  "Illustrated".  Published by Dodd, Mead & Company, New York.  A tight, firm, well-bound book in deep green heavily embossed boards with a delightful paste-down, from which pastedown a 1/4" x 3/8" chip is missing.  The tale of a ship leaving New York across the Sandy Hook bar, then a shipwreck, then, attempts to rescue the passengers including a little girl, and her belief that her father, Tom, would be coming home - that he was not lost after all.  A remarkable Period Piece from the 1880s.  Tight, firm, very thick paper.  A well-made book.  Shelfwear is moderate - whitening across the bottom edge, lightening in the hinge gutters, no wearthrough.  A corner of the front board pastedown, 1/4" x 3/8", is missing.  Ffep is missing.  Endpages are darkened and foxed (endpages only).  Splendid illustrations throughout.  This tale even has an uplifting ending!!  A Victorian tale of the first rank. No dj.  Overall "Good".  We do try to describe them accurately.  We want you back as a customer.  Hundreds of repeat customers.  A remarkable item for the collector, antiquarian fiction reader, Parent building a fine intergenerational family library, scholar, or author seeking authenticity.  A splendid  addition to the library of the specialist dealer  No pencilings, No names, No other markings, No bookplates, NOT Ex-library; NOT Remainder-marked.   Shipped well packed in the U.S. by USPS Media Mail.  Shipping to Canada is $4.50; Worldwide shipping is $8.50.  Weight packaged is 8 oz (.2 Kilo).  We ship worldwide by Air!!  We combine S&H on multiple purchases.  Buy with confidence - over 8,000 satisfied eBay buyers can't be all wrong!!  Don't let this one get by you - it is a marvelous find, uncommon in that dust jacket!
