A boxed set of five hand painted composition Christmas angel figurines, made in the US Zone of occupied Western Germany between 1945 and 1949. The sweet-faced angels are 2 to 3 inches high, wearing pastel colored long gowns and are in various poses: holding musical instruments or a songbook, or kneeling with hands clasped in prayer. Each has curly blond hair and gold wings, with crushed gold mica glitter along the hems of their gowns. They are marked Made In Western Germany U.S. Zone on the undersides.

The angels can be used as figurines or as Christmas ornaments as each has a wire loop hanger embedded at the back of her neck. The blue angel holding the horn has a repaired wing, otherwise they're in excellent vintage condition. The plain manila box has the original shredded paper lining. It's intact with some age wear and the word "Angles" written in pencil on the lid.
