I know, I know. This is really a jelly knife, designed to serve congealed salads and aspics.  However, I think this is a great piece for serving "rational" sized slices of pie or cake. In either case, it is a stunning all sterling silver (blade and handle) server in a wonderful engraved Rose pattern. Many makers, ca 1880-90, made a pattern like this one. Think Gorham or Frank Smith's Jac Rose or Rose Engraved by Joseph Seymour. This piece has no maker's mark, so we can't be sure which one it is. It is marked 15 sterling 46 and is also stamped with the original retailer's name, R.P. Thorn & Sons. This piece is 7 3/4" long, monogrammed L G and in extremely good condition.
