Vintage 1950's 50s STRAPLESS Ivory Chiffon Organza Party Prom Wedding DRESS

An absolutely glorious original 1950’s party/prom dress in a stunning ivory chiffon organza decorated with pastel floral bouquets. The floral design is not a print – it is textured velvet flocking, giving the illusion of extra depth. The style typifies the 50’s - oh so feminine and figure flattering – narrow bodice with a twirling full skirt. No maker’s label remains but this dress appears professionally made. No fabric contents label but this is a synthetic, likely nylon blend.

Note the special details on this wonderful dress – the sweetheart neckline with tufted tulle at the bustline, strapless boned bodice, and especially the wonderfully full organza skirt decorated with stunning floral panels and scalloped hemline. There are three layers to the skirt – an ivory satin acetate lining, followed by a tiered layer of white tulle to give the skirt extra body, topped with the final layer of organza chiffon. The tulle underlayer is designed to hang just below the organza top layer. Note the dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.

The dress closes down the centre back with a hidden metal zipper and fastener. The entire dress is lined in ivory satin acetate.

No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is small size which would likely best fit a modern size 2 or 4.

Condition

This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. The flocking is still intact and I did not find any obvious worn spots. I found none of the snags/picks typical of chiffon skirts of this vintage. Only one minor exterior mention – a slightly jagged edge at the bottom of one of the floral panels on the lower skirt. This may be original to the dress or the result of subsequent damage. No significant defects to note.

Unless otherwise requested, all Canadian and US shipments will be shipped airmail via Canada Post, which includes insurance up to $100. The shipping price below applies to Canada and US shipments only. I do not charge handling fees so all prices reflect actual mailing costs.

International buyers are welcome. International shipments will be priced on an individual basis and generally will be higher.
