This auction is for a Vintage 1955 Columbia 3 Cavalier Star Deluxe balloon tire bicycle. This bicycle is un-tuned but isn't too far from being a decent rider. It will need new tires, but the bike itself is in decent shape. The paint isn't a1, but there's nothing more than surface rust where the paint has been worn off. The rims do need either a rechrome, or paint, as they don't have much shine left. The wheels seem true with no broken spokes. The Bendix coaster brake spins well, but doesn't have a snappy stop to it. The bars need a rechrome too, but aren't bent and seem original.
This bicycle has that great chainguard with the self oiling system. "Lubri Klean". The chain runs through two small felt pieces that you would douse with oil regularly. Hands free chain oiling!
Original paint was a blue with cream accents. The downtube decal is in great shape, but the tank and chainguard decals are basically missing.
Headbadge is not perfect.
***The fork truss is missing the rods.
***The fender light is also missing.
***The ends and tips of the fenders look a bit chewed.

Specifications:

Seatpost - original, good shape

Saddle - Person's tan top springer, springs and rails look like they've been sprayed silver

Stem - original quill stem, no chrome

Handlebars - 26.5" wide cruiser bars, not much chrome left. Original black Columbia grips, ok shape but both have an inch long crack along the inside seam.

Crankset - original 1 piece steel crankset, 5 arm chainring

Pedals - block style pedals, worn, but usable

hubs - Bendix coaster brake hub (brake arm has Bendix in red), front hub is unmarked but is a wider diameter center section
rims - 26" balloon style steel rims, no chrome left, but not rusted out either

tires - Western flyer blackwall 26 x 2.125 tires, ok shape, but the front needs a new tube. some cracking, but definitely rideable

Economy: With this service all bicycles will be professionally boxed using approved packaging materials (including but not limited to bubble wrap, foam, paper, plastic spacers, cardboard tubes). The shipping cost reflects box sizes that do not meet the minimum shipping specifications for either UPS or FedEx. This option does not include an insurance guarantee or provide protection under eBay buyer protection as the box does not meet minimum specifications for shipping by UPS or FedEx. The minimum specification for shipping a box requires 3" of packing material around the bike itself. This size would make the box too large to ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS.

Standard: With this deluxe shipping option all bicycles will be professionally boxed using approved packaging materials (including but not limited to bubble wrap, foam, paper, plastic spacers, cardboard tubes) as well having a custom wooden crate built for the bicycle. Bikes packed under this option will be shipped in oversize boxes via freight truck. This option includes insurance and is covered under Ebay's Buyer Protection Plan.

We do not purchase bicycles outright, we do however take trade-ins toward the purchase of a new or used bicycle at any of our retail locations, all assessments and evaluations must be handled on site.

We only do bicycle assessments and evaluations through our retail locations, fees vary depending on the depth of assessment necessary.

This bicycle is available for local pick-up at no cost (WI sales tax apply to all in state purchases, local pick-up or shipped).

International buyers are responsible for all duties and fees. We will not falsify customs information; if you request such it will be reported to Ebay.

All bikes are professionally boxed and will be partially broken down to fit size requirements for shipping, some assembly and tuning may be required upon receiving.

Seller's payment instructions

Payment due via Paypal within 7 days of auction end. Shipping costs are as is and are not negotiable with the exception of local pickups, or for freight (delivery will be to nearest port) for all freight shipments charges will vary per item. Any changes in shipping service will incur a 2-3 week delay in shipping as well as a $100 handling surcharge in addition to the cost of shipping the item. As we are a full service bike shop all shipped bikes include a full service bike boxing.
