Seller Notes: My old TD2B has been sitting in the garage and-or storage unit for past 37 years and is now mostly re-assembled...It shows lots of use and decent wear, but now is ready to be restored and will make a great display item - a classic Yamaha 2-stroke twin...Condition:(1)Needs a fairing and windshield; (2)Alum-tank intact, but needs some small dents repaired, plus a good paintstrip and restoral;(3)Frame, swingarm, and fork sliders show thin rust from years of unheated inside storage - a full prep and repaint is called for; (4)Motor was on the shelf for 37 years with finish needing restoral - It turns over with good compression;(5)Pipes in good shape, but some light rust on the paint; (6)RH carb (Mikuni SR30-mm) missing, haven't found it; (7)Master front brake cable and throttle cables need repair, clutch cable needs replaced; (8)Tank hold-down straps broken, gone from age-crumbling;(9)Needs new fuel tubes, tires, brake shoes...Bike would benefit from a good restoration and detailing...
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number): TD2-900534 Year: 1971
Exterior Color: White Make: Yamaha
Engine Size (cc): 250 Model: Other
Warranty: Never Warranted - Sold As Is - Used Type: 250 Production Road Racer
Vehicle Title: Rebuilt, Rebuildable & Reconstructed Mileage: 5,001
For Sale By: Private Seller
I acquired this TD2B from a good biker friend in our old roadracing days (WMRRA - Seattle Int'l Raceway, mostly)...He was the third owner, I am the fourth, and have
had it in inside storage since doing 8 practice laps at SIR in 1977..It ran perfectly
then, and then motor was removed, put on the shelf, so that the bike could
be raced (in another class - 250-Single GP) with another motor...Conversion began with engineering some mounting brackets  but barely got started
when I then suspended project....and never got back to it...After all these years I have reassembled the stock machine and now offer it in auction...
Once a few parts-needs are completed, and a good restoration and detailing are done, this TD2B could be a worthy display trophy...and could well
be a fun runner after carb-work and ignition checkup....
Parts Needed:  (1)RH Carburetor - Mikuni SR30 or replica; (2) Master Front Brake Cable - Replace or Re-swage; (3)Tank Hold-Down Straps -
Originals aged and broken; (4) Brake Shoe linings (optional- old ones working); (5)Tires, Tubes, and Fuel Tubing; (6)3-4 small
rubber vibe-isolators at ignition elex; (7)Fairing assy and windshield, of course....
Fixes Needed:  (1)LH Carb Mounting - Rubber throat on cylinder age-cracked and weak;  (2) Aluminum Tank has multiple small dents in top-aft
and sides (all pretty shallow); (3) Original White/Red paint in bad shape, chipped and yellowed with age; (4)Paint and Finish  on                           frame, swingarm, fork sliders, etc. (5) Pipes in good shape, but lightly rusted - would benefit from wire-brushing and repaint with                             exhaust-black...(6) Front Fender needs paint-strip and repainting to original red - then reinstallation...(7) Throttle cable(s) loose -                            can be secured once carb-pair or replica Mikunis are matched and mounted...(8) Wheel/Brake assemblies have dulled finishes -
bare metal cleaning and polishing would restore brightwork looks...
Bike is being offered with the hope that it will be fully restored by some TD2B fan - and made into a worthy (and functional) display...Plan B would have it go for parts-out - but that would be a shame in my opinion...Bike is being sold as-is with no guarantees implied...Buyer will assume
all proprietary responsibility once the bike is shipped, or is picked up, and payment has been completed...
