From a Prussian pastime to a global sport, bodybuilding has become a hugely popular spectacle since its debut in the early 20th century. Tanning and applying oils prior to competition, like most bodybuilders do, can also help muscles pop out.

Contestants are often separated by weight, and the winner of each different weight division may compete in a “posedown” to give the audience one last show before the final decisions are made. From the opening pose to the final posedown, bodybuilding has captivated audiences for over a century now and will continue to do so.
