Portland Trail Blazers Tickets

The Portland Trail Blazers comprise the only NBA team located in the Northwest. Portland joined the NBA with the 1970-71 season. The team experienced a postseason drought its initial six season before claiming an NBA title in its first foray into the playoffs, beating the Philadelphia 76ers in six games for the 1977 championship. That remains the only championship in Portland’s history, although the Trail Blazers also played in the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992. Bill Walton played with the Trail Blazers from 1974-78 and helped the team to its 1977 title. Portland plays its home games in the Rose Garden.

Rose Garden, Home to the Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers moved into the Rose Garden in 1995. The 19,980-seat facility is named for its host city, the Rose City, and its location within the Rose Quarter, a sports and entertainment district. The official capacity may be increased to 20,580 with standing room. The most significant event to be held here was the sixth game of the 2000 Western Conference Finals. In that contest, the Trail Blazers knocked off the Los Angeles Lakers, 103-93, to force a seventh and deciding game in the series, which was claimed by the Lakers. The Rose Garden also hosted the 2005 United States Figure Skating Championships.

Portland Trail Blazers and the Western Conference

The Portland Trail Blazers participate in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Since the team's founding in 1970, the Portland Trail Blazers have won four division titles and three conference championships. Although the team advanced to the NBA Finals three times, its only victory came in 1977 versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Portland lost to the Detroit Pistons in 1990 and the Chicago Bulls in 1992.

Portland Trail Blazers 2012 Team Outlook

The Portland Trail Blazers are coming off of a 48-34 season that preceded a 4-2 loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Although point guard Andre Miller was traded to the Denver Nuggets in the off-season, the Trail Blazers received Raymond Felton from Denver to replace him. Felton had 8.3 assists per game in 2010-11 with the Nuggets and New York Knicks. Coach Nate McMillan said that his tentative starting lineup entering training camp was going to consist of Felton, Brandon Roy, Gerald Wallace, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Marcus Camby. Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews will be the first two off the bench. A year ago, Aldridge averaged 21.8 points per game and was the only Trail Blazer to start all 81 regular-season games.
