A fine post-Apocalyptic RPG/FPS with replay value, but it is very buggy.
I bought my first copy of Fallout 3 because I was a fan of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and heard this would be an RPG of a similar format... but with more "technologically advanced" weaponry and firearms. How could I say no to that? I'm glad I decided on purchasing it, because Fallout 3 is now one of my all-time favorite games (and am pretty thrilled to have purchased a copy to replace the one I lost). The post-post-Apocalyptic theme is endearing in a morbid kind of way. It has nearly unlimited replay value, as you have multiple options for character design, side quests and the main story line. Its soundtrack is easy to love, with its swing, big band style tunes. The weapons are inventive and fun to use, and the kill animations are gory enough to keep my attention, but not bad enough to make the most squeamish turn away. The only complaint I have is that there are far too many glitches, especially for a game from 2009. There's no excuse; they should have been fixed by now. I've learned to work around them by saving frequently and carefully checking game wiki sites to avoid the more common ones. For me, it's not a make-or-break issue, but can easily see how it would be for some. I believe Fallout 3 to be a true classic. It's worth a try.
