GameCube version has less bugs. The game's worth a try.
This is my 10-yr old daughter's opinion: "Pros: good graphics for an earlier PS2 title, decent to good soundtrack, lasts a while with value, a little like the classics, good gameplay | Cons: Gets boring after about half an hour, collision is horrible, dragonflies are annoying, constant glitches, dull storyline, did I mention CONSTANT GLITCHES?!?! Note: This is judged off the GameCube version and the PS2 version bugs added into it. I will tell you what kind of gamer I am so you understand my judgment- I am a die-hard Spyro fan (I have so many collectables it’s not funny); I am mostly into action, adventure, RPG and strategy games; I finish medium difficulty games in usually a week (Then, add on collectables and bonuses, I usually complete games entirely); and I am an XBox 360 achievement LOVER… boy, can’t go past those. Now! Spyro The Dragon made the beginning of his debuts in 1998. The titles that came after Spyro’s first game, Gateway to Glimmer (Better known as Ripto’s Rage) and Year of The Dragon, were huge successes. After Year of The Dragon, Season of Ice was released. Beyond that were Season of Flame and Enter the Dragonfly- and the REAL review starts here... Even though I AM a die-hard Spyo fan, the storyline is boring. It's a ripto- and- dragonfly version of Year of The Dragon. And Year of The Dragon felt too copied from GTG/RR!. Not in storyline, but in gameplay. The storyline is probably one of the worst parts of the game which is a shame... considering it has good gameplay. But everything in this game has a problem. The thing wrong with the gameplay is that it gets boring quickly and the collision and dragonfly-catching pull it down. Another thing wrong with the game is the constant amount of glitches. seriously, if half a level's missing, you might as well not have the level (this was fixed in later copies of the game.)! Soundtrack has some decent tunes but what's wrong with it? It's not that interesting and I STRONGLY dislike some parts of the music. All-in-all, unless the copy you're buying isn't pre-owned, go for the GameCube version. That one wasn't so rushed which takes out most of the bugs, and later copies were even better. So, the bottom line is, 'fun gameplay, but a lot of things pull it down'."

A die-hard fan's review: "Excellent, with fixed bugs!!"
This is my 10-yr old daughter's review: "Pros: Great graphics for GameCube, decent to good soundtrack, lasts a while with value, a little like the classics, good gameplay, major bugs such as collision problems aren't as much here, glitches aren't as constant | Cons: Annoying dragonflies, dull storyline, sacrifices graphics from PS2 version I will tell you what kind of gamer I am so you understand my judgment- I am a die-hard Spyro fan (I have so many collectables it’s not funny); I am mostly into action, adventure, RPG and strategy games; I finish medium difficulty games in usually a week (Then, add on collectables and bonuses, I usually complete games entirely); and I am an XBox 360 achievement LOVER… boy, can’t go past those. Beyond that were Season of Flame and Enter the Dragonfly- and the REAL review starts here... Storyline... same as PS2 version. Dull, uninteresting, and very much like Year of The Dragon. But since bugs are fixed it's now bearable. Graphics had to be lowered from PS2 because the GameCube didn't have the power for better graphics. Not a big deal, because the graphics still look great. It's only a little less clearer, nothing beyond that I can see. Soundtracks are good but again, some parts I didn't like. So overall buy this over the PS2 one if graphics don't bother you and you don't want as many glitches."

Good for the first of a reboot trilogy.
Pros: Better storyline than classics, new attacks, fresh feel, interesting glitches |Cons: Too short, repetitive, easy to finish I would really love this game if it were longer. But it is so short. You can pretty much finish it in a few hours and there are no real sidequests. It has a great new fell though, keeps the classic feel, and there are few annoying glitches. The grahpics look really clear but considering how much RAM was left over they could have been improved. Overall judgement: If you just need something to last for a few hours or kill a weekend this will do your wish, but go for The Eternal Night instead.
