Exactly what I needed

I've wanted a kindle for a long time, but never bought one because I had the kindle app on both my tablet and my phone so I didn't think having the eReader would make much of a difference. Oh, but how wrong I was! The app is good in a pinch, but it drains my battery, the backlight strains my eyes, and downloading books takes up more space than I really want to devote to it. So in general, I really don't use the apps at all. My whole point in getting the kindle app was to read more books. Since the app experience was so unenjoyable, I ended up reading less often than I'd hoped. So long story short, I decided to just try the old school kindle touch because it was cheap, simple, and a lot of ppl really liked it. I've only had it for a day now and I can already tell you that it's a major improvement over using the app. I love that it's not back-lit, so there's no strain on my eyes, the battery lasts for weeks so I don't have to worry about traveling with yet another charger or killing my phone, and it can hold as many books as I need/want. Since I already have an active kindle account it was super easy to setup and have my library handy at all times. All in all, I highly suggest, especially if you hate the app but love the concept of not having to lug bound books around.

Took some getting used to!!

Is in great shape, looks like new, took some getting used to & learned I needed a wireless router to download books!! Was able to register it & buy a couple books at my Brother's next door. Was instantly hooked once I got to reading on it & finally got my own router installed!! I only wish it had back light so I could read at night, but still a great item for the price & a good way to get started with Kindle!!

Faulty battery that wasn't disclosed.

Bought this because Amazon Prime day deals were terrible this year. I bought this fully aware that there were cosmetic damages as disclosed in the description. It was also listed as "fully functional" which is somewhat of a fib (I feel like lie is too extreme of a word) because the battery drains insanely quick. The appeal of the Kindle is the battery life that lasts weeks bc it has no backlight and no LCD/LED set up. I plugged this in, it charged from 0% to 100% in about 15min and then went from 100% to 62% in 20min of being unused. I tried restarting, I tried resetting, I checked to see if there were updates. Nothing. Now, I'm going to have to buy and learn how to replace the internal battery, use the Kindle plugged in ONLY (which defeats the purpose of it being a mobile reader), or buy an external battery with a short cable and just keep it plugged into that the entire time I'm using it and turn it off when not using it. Otherwise, the device is as described. Very basic ereader, minimal cosmetic damaged. Just an unfortunate battery issue that I have to figure out.
