Globe Wernicke Bookcase. Here we have an original Globe Wernicke 'Elastic' bookcase from the early part of the 19th century. Fast becoming a very rare item this one is in stunning condition. Finished in mahogany, with four layered drawers from the smallest at the bottom with two handles followed by three larger bookcase areas.
Height:- 108cm. A nicely made genuine Victorian piece with the original glass in the doors and hinges. We have cleaned waxed and polished it, there are age related marks all over, so warping in the wood, pieces of veneer missing, all signs of a genuine well used antique, the bookcase functions exactly as it should do.
Globe Wernicke established factories in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France and Germany. We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, the glass has all been carefully cleaned.
Condition wise for the era is perfect, the glass is all original as are the handles, we have cleaned waxed and polished the timber and cleaned the glass, the inside has been green lined which is a very Regency touch.
Below we find a tambour cupboard which I have never seen on a piece like this, its flanked either side by two drawers each. Moving to the base section we start with a secrataire desk which houses no less than 20 drawers, each one with the original handles, the whole piece slides out as you would expect, the front folds out with the use of the two depression buttons on either side.
A good looking well made and versatile pair, you can remove sections, add sections, make one larger than the other and so on. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page.
Here is a fine quality antique Edwardian mahogany bookcase, in the style of the neo-classical Georgian period, circa 1900, in good original condition. This bookcase comprises a dentil cornice, with a glazed cabinet top and cupboard base below.
The piece dismantles into four sections for ease of travel, you have the top cornice is one piece, the bottom plinth another and then the cabinets are two separate pieces standing side by side. Width:- 250cm along the top cornice, 242cm along the bottom skirting.
It would make an ideal a bookcase in an office or even a kitchen housekeeper’s cupboard. The cupboard doors features the original hinges, working lock and key. The cabinet interior retains its original condition; it has not been lined or painted (which is usually the case in later years).
A very good looking and well made piece in period condition, the glass and all timber is original, the wood has warped on one or two of the drawers a little from age, the glass is period and has that lovely wobbly look to it.
Babele is a classic tower display unit in 10 mm-thick curved glass with welded and bevelled 10 mm-thick glass shelves. Its in stunning condition throughout, there is one small chip on the underside corner of one shelf, otherwise its perfect.
The shelves in the top section are removable and height adjustable, the base is fixed. There is a small bubbled section of veneer at the top middle of the right door. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page.
