    Extremely rare 6/20/1668 100 acre land grant to John Ellett, situated in Talbot County, Maryland. It is signed by Charles Calvert (1637-1715), 3rd Lord Baltimore and Deputy Governor of the Province of Maryland, signed at the Maryland Provincial Capital of St. Mary's City (Annapolis would not become the capital until 1695). The document was written on vellum, signed by Charles under the authority of his father Cecil Calvert (1605-1675), 2nd Lord Baltimore, Founder of Maryland and its first Proprietor and Governor. Anne Arundel County, where Annapolis lies, is named for the wife of Cecil Calvert. Cecil founded Maryland but had returned to England by this date, leaving his son Charles to govern the province. This is the ONLY 17th century Maryland document we have seen and is extremely rare.
