Folding bikes from Dahon are portable. The 16-inch folding bikes can fit under a bus seat or in an airplane luggage bin, while many other sizes of the folding bikes can fit into the trunk of a car. The lightest folding Dahon weighs 19.4 pounds.

• Carbon Fiber: This is used to make light, strong, durable, and comfortable bikes.
• Aluminum: Double-butted Dalloy tubes are thicker at the ends, where welding takes place and stress is highest, but thinner toward the centre to minimize weight.
• Chromoly: DAHON uses drawn 4130 Chromoly steel exclusively. The Chromoly tubing is thin and light.

While all Dahon bikes are adjustable, these three sizes allow users to choose one that is most comfortable for their height.

• 16-inch and 20-inch folding bikes: These are designed to accommodate riders who weigh up to 230 pounds. They have adjustable seats so users who are between 4 feet 4 inches and 6 feet 4 inches tall can ride them.
• 26-inch folding bikes: These are designed for riders who are over 5 feet 4 inches tall and who weigh up to 240 pounds.

A folding bike from Dahon has several moving parts that allow users to fold specific components, reducing the overall size.

• Quick release: Pull the quick release on the handlebars to release tension.
• Handlebar hinge: Pull up on the hinge and swing the handlebars down toward the front end of the folding bike.
• Folding pedals and prop stand: Pull up the prop stand and fold both pedals in. The pedals should be moved so that one is facing up toward the seat.
• Main hinge: This hinge is located in the middle of the frame. When the hinge is released, the frame folds in half, bringing the wheels together. The folding bike is held together using a strong magnet.
• Seat hinge: This hinge allows the seat to collapse into the frame. It also allows folded Dahon bikes to remain standing on their own.

Dahons have a 451 mm wheel set, allowing the bikes to fold for compact storage. The smaller pieces of equipment on Dahon folding bikes do not affect their speed. Their purpose is to enable users to accelerate faster, and they are aerodynamic. Dahon uses unique oversized chain rings and other specialized components.
