Door Decor

Door decorations will add beauty to any room and can be hung on a front door to make a home more inviting to guests. They're made of many materials, such as wood, dried flowers, and mesh, and they come in a variety of sizes and styles from Christmas wreaths adorned with ornaments to festive plaques. You can even use a festive garland to decorate your front door during the holidays.

How do you hang a wreath without damaging the door?

Whether you're hanging a Christmas piece, a plaque with flower detail, or a mesh wreath with ornaments on the front door of your outdoor porch, you want to do so in a way that highlights the decoration without damaging the door. There is specially designed hardware available that won't put unsightly holes in a door just for that purpose, such as:

  • Magnetic hangers
  • Over-the-door hooks
  • Adjustable metal hangers

Simply follow the instructions that come with the hangers or hooks to install them properly.

How do you choose the right door decorations?

There are many choices available when selecting a wreath, garland, or any decoration for an interior or front door. Following a few tips can make the selection process easier.

  • Measure the door from the top to the middle and from side to side to make sure that the decor you select will fit properly on it.
  • If you're selecting front door decor, make sure it's made of materials that can withstand the elements.
  • When selecting a holiday wreath or an everyday piece of door decor, choose one that complements the colours of the room or porch where it will be displayed.
How do you clean a decorative wreath?

You can use a feather duster, a blow dryer, or salt and a paper bag to clean a decorative wreath. You can clean a wreath by putting it in a large paper bag with a 1/4 cup of salt. Gently shake it. The salt will clean the dust off that got stuck on the embellishments. Another effective option is to use a blow dryer on cool setting at low speed. Hold the dryer about 12 inches from the wreath so that it won't damage any of the decorations. If your wreath is simply made of twigs, you can gently sweep across it with a feather duster to clean it. Avoid using water as it could damage the decorations.
