Dodge Grand Caravan Hub Caps

Although they are often overlooked, hub caps are an important piece of your Dodge Grand Caravan. They provide protection to your brakes, wheels, and bearings. However, hub caps can also provide visual appeal for your Grand Caravan.

What is the function of a hub cap?

Hub caps are placed over the lug nuts and sometimes part of the wheel on your Dodge Grand Caravan. With their location, they help keep dirt and debris from the road out of your hub assembly, brakes, and bearings. Without a hub cap, these parts would wear down and fail faster. Additionally, by hiding the lug nuts, hub caps serve to make your Dodge Grand Caravan better-looking.

What size hub cap should you get for Grand Caravan?

One of the most important parts of purchasing new hub caps for your Dodge is to be sure you are getting the right size. Without the right size, your hub caps will not provide the appropriate protection and may fall off while your vehicle is moving at high speed. Most Grand Caravans will require a 15 or 16-inch hub cap. To find out what size your specific vehicle needs, look at your tires. There will be a number on the outer edge, for example, P175/65/R14. The last digit represents the size in inches you will need. For this example, it would be 14-inches.

How do you install hub caps?

Installing new hub caps is one of the easiest things you can do to improve the look of your vehicle. Simply follow these steps:

  • Prepare the Vehicle: Park your car and be sure it is on level ground. Apply the emergency brake to ensure it will not move while you work.
  • Remove Old Hub caps: If you have snap-on hub caps, such as plastic ones, you will need to pry the old hub cap away from the wheel. If you have bolt-on hub caps, you will need to use a wrench to first remove the nuts and bolts.
  • Apply New Hub caps: Position the new hub caps in place. Apply the bolts and nuts, and make sure the hub cap does not block the valve stem. For snap-on wheel covers, push them gently into place until they snap. You can then give them a tap with your feet to be sure they are installed securely.
  • Test Drive: When you have done all 4 hub caps, take your car for a short test drive to be sure all of them are on securely.
What is the difference between OEM and aftermarket parts?

When purchasing parts for your Dodge, you will have the option of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or another brand. Other brands are referred to as aftermarket. Each has their own benefits. However, if you want the Dodge emblem featured on your hub caps, you will need to purchase OEM ones.
