Motorola Slider Smartphones

Access What You Need With a Motorola Slider Smartphone

When you are on the road and need to get information quickly, you can type in a subject into your smartphone's search bar and go from there. Founded in 1928, Motorola makes a number of slider-style smartphones.

What makes a slider phone different than others?

Slider phones consist of several parts that slide past each other. In most cases, there is a display screen that's housed in the upper segment and a miniature keyboard that's housed in the lower segment of the phone. Some people prefer using physical buttons that you can push rather than a digital keyboard that appears on the screen and takes over some of the viewing area. The keyboard component can be slid in and out depending on whether you need it. This allows for a more compact design. Depending on the model, the components can slide either horizontally or vertically.

What are slider models in the Droid line?

Some of the slider models in the Droid phone collection are:

  • Motorola Droid: This slider runs on the Android 2.0 operating system. It has a 5 MP camera as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • Droid 2: With this phone, you get 8GB of internal memory and have the option of using an SDHC card with anywhere from 8GB to 32GB of storage. The display is 3.7 inches.
  • Droid 3: This device is an Android Gingerbread 2.3-powered phone. It has a 4-inch qHD multitouch display as well as a five-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It's enabled for the Verizon 3G wireless network and can be set up as a mobile hotspot. It has an 8 MP camera and 16GB of internal memory.
  • Droid 4: The fourth version of this smartphone has the same operating system, internal memory, and camera resolution as the third version does. It has a processor speed of 1.2 GHz. Its keyboard is LED edge-lit, providing extra illumination while you type.
What are other phones that are available?

There are several other choices of sliders. One way to categorize them is by size. They can be either:

  • Slim: These are relatively narrow. Examples include the Evoke QA4, the Rizr, the Rizr Z6tv, and the Rizr Z8. On their telephone keypads, different numbers correspond to different letters when typing mode is selected.
  • Standard: These are a bit wider to accommodate a full QWERTY keyboard. Examples include the Karma QA1, the Hint QAA30, and the Photon.
