This John Hopkin’s “Lipstick on Shirt Front” error was in all the stamp magazines when it came out in 1989. The error is listed in the Scott Specialized. Scott says that very few have been found. This is one of the few.

The first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb, the Enola Gay, was piloted by Colonel Paul W. Tibbets and targeted Hiroshima, Japan. A second bomb was later dropped on Nagasaki. This led to the surrender of Japan to the Allies in World War 2 in August of 1945.
