      Pesticides policy

      Pesticides can pose significant health and safety risks and are regulated by the Canadian government, so we have specific rules about selling them on eBay.

      This policy reflects our commitment to eBay user safety by strictly adhering to government regulations for the sale and transportation of dangerous goods.

      What is the policy?

      Pesticide products are not allowed on eBay if they are:

      • Discontinued, expired, suspended, or cancelled registration
      • Located outside Canada
      • Not registered in Canada, or otherwise not authorized under the Pest Control Products (PCP) Act
      • Packaged, labelled, or advertised in a false or misleading way, or otherwise not compliant with Canadian label requirements (including missing the Canadian PCP/Registration Number, e.g., “Reg. No. ____ P.C.P. Act”)
      • Repackaged, relabelled, subdivided, opened, or samples (must be in original package/container)
      • Restricted-class, per the Health Canada-approved label shown in the Pesticide Label Search

      Examples of pesticide products that aren't allowed include:

      • Bear repellents
      • Diazinon
      • Dursban 50 W
      • Frontline and Advantage flea and tick medications that are purchased in another country and shipped to Canada
      • Vintage pesticide products or packaging, even if empty

      Additional information

      The buyer must be eligible to purchase the pesticide under federal, provincial, and territorial laws. The seller is responsible for making sure the product is lawful and safe. 

      Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.

      Why does eBay have this policy?

      The Pesticides policy helps our buyers and sellers to comply with federal, provincial, and territorial regulations and protects the eBay community from the dangers that these products may pose.
