They sound good compared to plastic pins but...
I like the slight sound enhancement that these bridge pins give me over my plastic pins however, these "sold white" Tusq pins are NOT really solid; the tops of of them are hollowed out for abalone inlays and are filled in with a NON Tusq material or resin of some kind. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem but some are crowned on top with the resin material (too much resin), some are flat (just the right amount of resin), and some are dimpled (because they didn't top off holes all the way with the resin). They work fine but I had to by more just to assemble a set out of the extras that all matched. It's hard to believe there's any string vibration past the saddle on an acoustic guitar, but there is. I have done close comparisons with several of my customer's acoustic who asked me to install Graphtech bridge pins. To my amazement, there was a sonic difference. The question is.... is this sonic difference better? It's not like the guitars I installed them in sounded bad beforehand or installed, had some sort of new definable boost in tone, clarity or volume from these pins. It was just different. Maybe some would say "more open sounding"? Unlike other GT products, I can't even say these guitars got more "musical" sounding or had more sustain. These pins also seem to make more of a difference on some guitars than others, but I'm not sure why. Again, these guitars just sounded different. ... It's possible due to a slight weight difference, the top is freer to vibrate, but I doubt that's a legit answer. Regardless, for the low price this seller sold these GT pins for, was a bargin and I'm keeping them on my axe because one of the plastic OEM pins broke. Your results will vary!
