You get what you pay for. It will do what I need it to do but don't count on any precision. I was under the impression the front handle would clear the drill press table. I must have missed something because it doesn't. Junked it and made an extension. A lot of pits in the casting, sloppy fit on most parts and the paint doesn't look near as good as the picture. I guess for the money you can't really complain much.

Ok for the price. I completely disassembled it and knocked off all the burrs and sharp edges. Cleaned all the rust off the gibs (that are no more than band iron), cleaned the bearings and readjusted them to remove as much play as possible. If your expecting tight precision spend much more. But this will fit my needs just fine!

Machinist wants small mill for home projects

I am a full time machinist who likes to work on my own projects at home. This compound table was the only thing I could find to add some flexibility of x and y movement on a drill press. I would not try to do any super precise work on this. It’s good for home projects. I had to take it apart, work on the x axis acme screw so that it didn’t bind every rotation of the hand wheel. I greased all the slide ways. I did file the edges of the table as well. It certainly will require some work when it arrives if you are fussy like me. I have made m12 tie down studs and will weld the square nuts to the studs. I plan on adding a small 4” milling vise to this table. This will give me flexibility at home to work on tractor parts and other small projects.

    Drill Press Conversion

I purchased this x/y plate to mill with my drill press. Unfortunately the y-axis handle extends below the table base, which requires a the need for a small mounting baseplate. I will need to add a 1" spacer plate or cut away the mounting plate fasten. If the rotary knobs we're a smaller diameter design would be helpful for versatility with other applications.

  • Compound Table

Without having set it up for use under pressure, the compound seems to be reasonably constructed. It is cast iron, as one would expect, of course the density of the casting is a determining factor in the quality and this seems to be medium density. The accuracy under pressure has yet to be determined. The ways are standard and adjustable, while the screws seem to have around .025 or so leeway. All of the accuracy will be revealed after set-up. Overall, I would say it's a very good value for the money. A higher degree of quality would be quite a bit more costly. And so this compound is quite workable. As far as durability, that is yet to be seen. AG

  • Compound milling table

Inexpensive compound table is ready to mount and use. But if your expecting a high quality finish this is not it, but it is functional. I’ve used it for a week now and it has done the job that I bought it for.

Heavy duty, large dials, ball bearings. Floating dials hard to move due to adhesive tape between the dial and housing instead of friction spring. Metal dust/chips between moving parts. NEED to take apart, remove the adhesive tape, clean and re-assemble to work smoothly. May need adjustment of moving parts to prevent binding/rubbing. Otherwise I wood give 5 STARS
