"In bestseller Berry's fourth thriller to feature exJustice Department agent Cotton Malone (afterThe Venetian Betrayal), Malone embarks on a search for answers about his father, Capt. Forrest Malone, after learning that instead of dying in 1971 in a nuclear sub accident in the North Atlantic, his father actually died while on a secret submarine mission to the Antarctic. Meanwhile, bad guy Adm. Langford Ramsey schemes to become the next ranking officer of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The two story lines merge as a group led by Malone races to Antarctica, where they find a strange underground city belonging to the Aryans, an advanced race who inhabited the earth at the dawn of our own civilization. A meticulous researcher, Berry carefully integrates such elements as Charlemagne, Nazis, ancient manuscripts, historical puzzles and scientific surprises into the plot. Those who relish suspense in theDa Vinci Codevein will snap this one up,the best yet in the series."- Publishers Weekly(starred review) "Berry outdoes himself in his latest Cotton Malone adventure (afterThe Venetian Betrayal). Using his connections in the federal government, Cotton asks to see a classified file that details the mission that resulted in his father's death. He knew his father died on a submarine but none of the shocking details about where or why he died. But Cotton is not the only person who wants this file, and they kill to get it. Nazi missions to the Antarctic, ancient societies, and a valuable artifact from Charlemagne's tomb all play key roles as Malone uncovers the truth. So much is going on that there is enough material for two good books, let alone one great one. Mixed in with the complicated action, Berry finds the time to explore the characters as well, making this his most personal and best book to date. For all fiction collections."- Library Journal, "In bestseller Berry's fourth thriller to feature exJustice Department agent Cotton Malone (after The Venetian Betrayal ), Malone embarks on a search for answers about his father, Capt. • The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry

Steve Berry is an author that brings a story to life by utilizing extensive subject-matter research, in-depth character development and weaves these elements into a storyline that captures and maintains a reader's focus from cover to cover. As in all of his "Cotton Malone" books, "The Charlemagne Pursuit" has the reader running with Cotton Malone in his search for the real truth behind his father's death in a submarine disaster decades before. There are multiple agendas being pursued by the characters Cotton crosses paths with and, as in the case of the "official disclosure" released concerning his father's fate, the truth can be buried in a sea of lies. A great story that leaves the reader waiting for Mr. Berry's next book release.

  • A real page turner. I could not put it down. And a deal at under $5.

A wonderful book from a great writer. I have read everything that Mr. Berry has written through this novel and am starting on the next now. Berry weaves a great tale of intrigue and suspense with family conflicts and has an air about it of a modern day treasure hunt that concludes with an ending that if real, would rock the world as we know it. Fantastic book by an accomplished author. Read all his books. You will not regret it.

  • Charlemagne Pursuit--

have read them all-- did not like one of the endings as he put some far left anti catholic thoughts in it-- then went on to say at his author notes that it was his own thoughts not what was said in the visitations--- glad I only bought one retail because of this-- the rest I got on EBAY-- I am reading this one now-- so far it is good---- ps you need to read them in order of how he wrote them-- to get the flow of his people in the tales--
