You can pick one up for under $400 and you cannot beat the quality in that price range. All multichannel amps are driven by computers and their software which will become outdated quickly. DO NOT spend a fortune of any reciever. It will become outdated long before it wares out, and it will fetch very litte on the used market. That's why this amp is perfect. If you think that you need more power than this one has - you don't. Channel seperation is surpurb, and distortion is non existant. I have it hooked up to 7 JBL E-100s plus two 12 inch front firing subs. With 28 drivers to fire, any flaws would become evident, and there are none. If you need an Amp with HDMI switching capability, get the 1016, if component switching is acceptable than stick with the 1015. Auto set up is a breese and it comes with one of the nicest truely universal remotes that I've seen.
Great design and display. Good sound, easy setup, large number of inputs.

Cons: large, heavy, deeper then most. Overall love the look and display, recommended.

What I liked about this receiver was that that it is affordable for a THX Select 2-certified 7.1-channel A/V receiver offers switching for two HDMI sources, XM Satellite Radio capability with XM HD Surround, an accurate autosetup system, and an optional iPod dock. Also, you can configure the receiver to biamplify compatible front speakers.
What I didn't like about this receiver was that the HDMI switching is for video only, which means you'll have to hook up audio cables as well. Additionally, the receiver won't convert composite, S-Video or component-video sources to HDMI output, and the onscreen menu display doesn't work via HDMI.
If I were to rate this receiver on a 1 - 10 scale, I would give it a 10 (yes, even though it has things I don't like)
A feature loaded quality receiver with a proven name

Reviewing the manual is plain read and obviously will fullfill any needs I have concerning surround sound systems. I've yet to install and test as I'm waiting on other components but the look is impressive quality expected of Pioneer. The only drawback from reading reviews appears to be getting sound via the HDMI connection and that it requires a additional cable since it is a "pass through" type connection. In my mind that negates the function of HDMI but I guess I can live with that. I'm really looking forward to getting all the components connected and enjoying my first home theater experience. I hope the setup goes as easily as described!
I have this receiver. I love it. It’s old but i Love it.
