great reference, helps you keep your project organized,
This is on every ones top knitting books to have. The patterns are clear and easy to understand. They really take you through knitting a sweater complete with project page to attach some yarn, swatch-- it really feels special to start your project so organized. The cut and shape of Vogue garments are timeless with simple and elegant lines. They go through the complete construction of the sweater with clear explanations. Knitting a sweater the "Vogue way " in this book will turn out beautiful. I can see keeping the project organized will decrease stress and you can really enjoy the process of knitting a beautiful garment for yourself.
great reference book
I love this book. It can answer just about any question you could have about knitting. I bought this book and basically taught myself to knit using just this. I don't think it was specifically designed to teach you to knit, but you can certainly use it for that. There are so many different topics covered that they don't go in depth on any one thing, so if you are looking for something to teach you specific techniques, i would buy a book just for that. I don't think you will find another book that will answer so many questions though. I haven't even made it to the section that helps you create your own patterns for garments!! I can't wait. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in knitting.
You only need ONE knitting book, and this is it
This knitting book has great photos and clear diagrams for every technique, from simple and easy for inexperienced knitters such as myself, to more complex techniques that I would like to learn to use. I had previously consulted and printed some of these instructions and diagrams from the Vogue knitting website, also excellent and free; it is great to have them all in this one book.
This is a fabulous book about knitting. It covers so many steps in knitting in great detail and also a variety of options for various projects. It also gives information for equipment (needles, notions) and various types of fiber (yarn, ribbon, different content). It is one of the best books on the market even though it is 5 years old.
Vogue Knitting (2002)
What a great reference book! Every serious knitter should have it on hand---a real "keeper". My only complaint, a minor one, is that the illustrations and text are on the "small side". (I guess the book would become 2 books, if it were not condensed and that would defeat the purpose of putting everything in one book.) I needed this book about 40 years ago when I started knitting as I made every mistake a beginner can make and then some. Buy it!
