About this product

Product Information

Half-Life 2 continues the story of Gordon Freeman, the scientist-turned-marine who managed to escape from the Black Mesa Research Facility in Half-Life. In Half-Life 2, Gordon has accepted the G-Man's "offer" and become a government agent on Earth. However, the Xen aliens, Combine soldiers, headcrabs, "ant lions," and other enemies threaten everything.

Gordon begins his quest in City 17 and, with the help of Eli and Alyx Vance, begins to unravel the mysteries behind the rapid changes on Earth. Freeman also encounters gigantic spider-like monstrosities that tower over buildings, impale humans on sharp spindly legs, and emit devastating blasts from their bodies -- "striders."

All the voice actors from Half-Life have returned to voice their characters in Half-Life 2. The physics engine has been updated to include all objects within the game world; players will be able to shoot chairs to pieces, manipulate futuristic "gravity" guns, and interact with objects in complicated ways. Several vehicles will be available during certain levels, and environments include City 17, some suburbs, a dry ocean bed, an icebreaking ship, and a jail.

    Great game

Half life 2 is a great game. This Xbox port has a little slower load times and graphics not quite as good as the orange box, but still a cool way to play for nostalgia

  • HL2 for Xbox - Good PC alternative, but some issues

Half-Life 2 for the Xbox was actually somewhat surprising. I bought the game for my Xbox recently just because I could get it cheap, and I wanted to see how well such a game would perform on the Xbox's hardware. I was not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I have owned and played HL2 on PC since it came out, and while I would suggest playing it on the PC (for better framerates, gameplay, and graphical features), the Xbox version is a decent alternative for those who do not have a high-end gaming PC. The Xbox version actually looks fairly decent, but does have it's laggy moments. The loading screens do get a bit tiresome, but go relatively quickly. The gameplay performs almost like Halo, which makes it easy to navigate and fight with. The game is still very much playable, and ...

  • Half-Life 2 (Xbox)

First of all, I'd like to say that this is one of the best First Person Shooters ever, and I'll tell you why. You arrive at a place known only as "Citidal 17." You're on the run almost from the start, you have no weapons, minimal health, and no idea whats going on. You keep running until you meet up with an old friend, you're given one weapon, a crowbar, the rest you have to find on your own. Now I don't want to give away anything more about the story. If you like a game where you're given challenges that not only test your trigger finger, but your mind as well, then you'll love this game. Don't get me wrong tho, you'll need a fast trigger finger and plenty of adrenalin to get threw this game. Packed with great graphics and excellent weapons, Half-Life 2 is the perfect game for anyone ...

  • Great Sci-Fi FPS game!

I originally bought the PC version of this game; I loved it on my laptop. When I bought my XBox 360, I was looking for cheap games, so I got the original XBox version of this game. Playing on the console or on the PC does not make a big difference to me. It's very interesting how Gordon has to go around solving problems (like if he was putting puzzles together) sometimes with Alyx, sometimes alone. The graphics look really good, making me thank God that we don't really have giant bugs here. (I hope not...) When I play, I actually AM Gordon Freeman. So I even get startled when a zombie or an alien attacks me by surprise. I liked the game so much, that I went ahead and bought the "Orange Box" for XBox 360. (Includes: HL 2, HL2-Episodes 1 & 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2)

  • Half-Life 2 (Xbox)

At first, I thought this was going to be the greatest first person shooter ever. The beginning of the game is a blast, it is very well planned and immersive. The attention to detail is incredible and the non-playable character models are the best I’ve ever seen. Some of the visuals are really something to see. Then it starts to kick in. The control scheme is very limiting, only allowing the player to use two different stick configurations. Chances are, if you are a FPS junkie like myself, your choice control scheme isn’t in there. This pretty much ruins the game. There are no extras, no other side distractions or minigames. nothing to read into the story. The controls become clumsy, as your character slows down to nearly a stand still when crouched or when fitting through a low pipe or a ...
