Serious Sam debuts in console form to offer Xbox gamers ports of both of Croteam's PC titles, Serious Sam and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. Both games are combined and presented as a single adventure in this Xbox version. Much like of the originators of the FPS style, Serious Sam eschews complicated puzzle-solving and overbearing storylines in favor of in-the-moment, "shoot everything that moves" gameplay. The second half of the title introduces minor puzzle elements and power-ups to the mix, but for the most part, Sam "Serious" Stone's basic purpose is to eviscerate a cadre of demons and mutants -- all manner of outlandish creatures in fact -- while traversing locales such as tombs, valleys, and cities that span time itself. <br><br>To stem the tide of enemies populating the game's 36 levels, players make use of a sizable variety of weapons, including flamethrowers, chainsaws, mini-guns, rocket launchers, shotguns, pirate-style cannons, the "Serious Bomb," and more. Racking up kills, finding secrets, and quick completion times all award points (handily tracked by an onscreen counter), which are translated into extra lives to be expended as Sam carves his way through the hundreds of enemies per level. Respite is offered in the form of red telephone booths, scattered about each level, that act as save points. In yet another throwback, Sam spouts sarcastic one-liners throughout the adventure, à la Duke Nukem.<br><br>The multiplayer components of the game offer competitive and co-operative play. Using either a split-screen or the system link capability, two players can team up and work through the entire adventure together. A four-player Deathmatch mode offers ten levels in which to compete.

Serious Sam fanatic.
I have this on the PC and wanted to see what differences, if any, there were in the xbox version. I prefer the mouse and keyboard controls on the PC, but I soon adapted to the xbox controller. I love Serious Sam games. I enjoy the tongue and cheek humor.

The most fun FPS ever!
If you've ever played a Serious Sam game then you know you are in for some serious fun! The graphics in this game are good about par for when it was released. The controls are pretty much just like any other FPS. The gameplay is so good, really. I'm not into FPS, but this game is really awesome! The great thing about this game is that it's intense while still being fun, and FUNNY! Sam has some great sayings that will have you laughing out loud. At times this games story doesn't follow but I think because it's supposed to be a comical game. And comical it is! You will kill so many strange looking aliens, you'll see them in your dreams! The bosses are great and fairly challenging. My only grip is that once in a while there is a slow down, but it ... I bought this game because I wanted big screen gaming and wanted a complete package of all the individual Serious Sam games on the PC. While the game still looks good, it doesn't nearly look as sharp as the PC version. Plus, it doesn't run as smooth or fast as the PC. The control is not sharp like with a mouse/keyboard. If you've never played the PC version, this game is still a great blast. They compensated for the Xbox controller by making it easier to kill the enemies.I bought this game because I wanted big screen gaming and wanted a complete package of all the individual Serious Sam games on the PC. This game is nuts. It's funny, the levels are really big, the enemies are downright weird, and some of the weapons are kinda strange (a cannon?). Sharp colorful graphics, excellent sound. There's not much story here, and not much to it, but if you just want a fun shooter to play, this will do the trick easily. Runs fine on xbox 360 too, just make sure you set your xbox 360 console to run in 480p so the picture fills your whole screen. Well worth the couple bucks you can find it for online.!This game is nuts.
