About this product

Product Information

Director Robert Zemeckis revolutionized the art of animated film in 1998's WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT by dropping cartoon characters into the same frame with flesh-and-blood actors. In THE POLAR EXPRESS, live action and animation have merged seamlessly, resulting in sparkling super-realism. A landmark technique Zemeckis and his Sony Pictures Imageworks team call "Performance Capture" perfectly suits the tenor of this wondrous children's Christmas story by Chris Van Allsburg. A disillusioned little boy, just old enough to doubt the existence of Santa Claus, has the adventure of a lifetime one fateful Christmas Eve. Clad in his pajamas, he climbs aboard a magic train to the North Pole, driven by a kindly train conductor (voiced by Tom Hanks who starred in both of Zemeckis's Academy-Award winning films FORREST GUMP and CASTAWAY). Among myriad jaw-dropping moments, the train plummets brakeless through crystalline mountains in a simulated roller coaster ride. Going off the rails, skidding sideways, and snaking violently across a frozen lake, the train arrives at the North Pole (a vast, glowing city of brick buildings). At that moment, the car carrying the kids detaches and they're sent tumbling down never-ending chutes and slides until they land in the middle of Santa's Workshop. With its fascinating tale and impressive technical frolics, THE POLAR EXPRESS is destined to become both a holiday classic and a new turning point in the art of animated cinema.

  • Believe

I really enjoyed this movie. The graphics are really great, much better than I was expecting. Most of the voice work is done by Tom Hanks, and he does a great job of it. The main moral to this movie is to believe. If you don't believe in something you won't be able to experience it. In the movie they used in an example if you didn't believe in Santa (or the beauty of Christmas), you wouldn't be able to hear the bells ring on Santa's sleigh. It's the same thing about life. If you don't believe you can accomplish something, it's likely that you won't get very far. This is a great movie for the kids as well as the adults. If you enjoy Christmas movies, then you will love this one.

  • A new Christmas Classic!

We all love to watch our classic Christmas shows. You can add this one to the shows you'll make sure your children and grandchildren see every year. A wonderful story about a boy who is starting to 'grow out' of Christmas and no longer believe in the magic of Christmas. He discovers along the Polar Express to the North Pole about Christmas and the thruth about Santa Clause. A very cute story that every child should experience!

  • The Polar Express

I purchased this for my autistic grandson, Nathan, age 6, who LOVES trains. My son took him and his sister, Hannah on a Polar Express train ride in NC over the Thanksgiving weekend. Nathan was enthralled! Finding this wonderful purchase on eBay was from heaven. The snowglobe, DVD and train will be MY favorite gift to give this year. Thank you SO much for having it available! Bless you! p.s. I am giving this gift LAST, as I am sure that Nathan will be too excited to even care about anything else.

  • The Polar Express

The Polor Express is a great movie, what can I say about that. As far as getting your hands on the gift pack with the snowglobe and train...forget it,save your money. The snowglobes are drying up and some are being sold that way and as far as the train, well that is just a little cheaply made thing. Next time, will spend half the money and just purchase the dvd. Thanks for listening...

  • Kids will love it

Good movie, son loved the snow globe and wooden train. It's hard to find but well worth for any child at christmas time.
