As originally produced in the United Kingdom for London Weekend Television], and starring David Suchet as the famous title character, Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT debuted in 1989 and thereafter ran for decades, checking in consistently as a staple of English broadcasting. As the program rolled on, it placed a greater and greater emphasis on feature-length episodes in lieu of hour-long ones. This collection from the Acorn Media label presents three Poirot episodes; each runs approximately the length of one average movie, hence the subtitle THE MOVIE COLLECTION. Included are: MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (season 12, Episode 4; 2010); THIRD GIRL (season 11, Episode 3; 2008); and APPOINTMENT WITH DEATH (season 11, Episode 4; 2008). Special features include a list of Poirot books; a documentary where Suchet hosts an on-camera tour of the Orient Express; notes by David Suchet and co-star Tim Curry; and more.

    Couldve been packaged better. The disc case had been punctured by an impact by the time it got here. The content survived. I guess for the price the poor packaging and damaged new product shouldnt be a surprise. Id leave a neutral or negative but id have to wait too long. Figures ebay wont let you immediately tell the world how cheap and lazy a seller was with your new item.

    Classic Agatha Christie Stories

    Performed, once again, with dignity and style by David Suchet as Hercule Poirot. He is just so good as Hercule Poirot. The three movie-length presentations in this set are done with such elegance, and attention to detail in regards to costumes, cars and settings, that you cannot find fault with any of that. However, the usually wonderful scripts were changed somewhat from the original writing by Christie and from earlier-filmed versions. I did not particularly like the changes for Appointment with Death nor Murder on the Orient Express. Those movies were filmed in 1988 with Peter Ustinov (Appointment with Death) and in 1974 with Albert Finney (Murder on the Orient Express) and had, in my opinion, far superior scripts than does the versions in this set.     This has a nice variety of Poirot movie favorites. I especially like that it has the subtitles included. The movies keep you guessing almost to the end. You will enjoy this purchase if you are a Poirot fan!
