Had the unlocked iPhone 5 for almost 8 weeks 11/2015, I'm saying YES!
Using this unlocked iPhone 5 with Straight Talk. Reception is SO much better than the Samsung Ace I was using. I have the same phone service as before, just switched out my phone but now outside the city I can actually drive between cities and still have decent reception for calls and texts. With the Samsung it was literally like having a brick, dead, nothing. Now the battery is another thing. It just does not seem to be able to go a whole day on a charge, so I keep a charger handy. However, to make it tolerable search online for how to increase your battery time, and there are plenty of good articles. Fresh out of the box it was horrible, but after following some advice it's much better than it was. By the way, the phone is all around a good phone, all functions work, it's fast, I ... My first apple purchase
The phone came unchanged and took more than 32 hours of charging and tech support to get running. After this it worked for 12 minutes while still being on the charger and died. It is fi ally working to spec now, but took far too much time and troubleshooting to get working. I don't know if this is an old iPhone problem or a bad device, but I will not buy Apple again.

Purchased as first phone for 6th grader as bday present. No problems other than straight talks internet service sucks after you reach X amount of data each month. Phone runs LTE but straight talk only runs 3g and then bumps speeds down to 1g after the first 3 gigs of data- they have other plans but we purchased the cheap/unlimited plan. After a month, we canceled straight talk service because kid couldnt get phone to hardly run or load on straight talk network. Always using our wifi because of slow service. Phone works on wifi perfectly. Great product, no problems with phone but straight talk sucks. Purchased as first phone for 6th grader as bday present. Aesthetically looks GREAT! Mine didn't come with drastic or notable scratches, just 1 or 2 minor and not notables at all. Certainly battery life is a minor factor but it's enough for daily use, just try not to use many apps at the same time or enable saving mode. Also I live abroad and I thought it was unlocked for other countries and carriers, but my surprise was that when I tried to use another SIM Card, it didn't let me, anyway I'm working to unlocking it online, it costs 1$ though, let's see if it works.Aesthetically looks GREAT! After many months saving i could finally aford my first iPhone (i've toy'ed around with a few but never had one of my own), i'm not going to try to deceive you, i've used many phones in my life, this is one of the prettiest. So, let's dissect this phone using as reference the ratings given by eBay on the review: Putting aside the fact that if you're a developer you must run all your code through Apple (and pay for the right of being a iOS coder), the features are correct, its snappy, web browsing is quite fast (Safari is one of the best optimized mobile browsers ATM) and has all my requirements (mainly a broad 3G band coverage), so, 4/5 to that (i'd loved to being able to remove the dreaded Passbook and other features i don't like from the desktop). iOS is simple, anybody can use iOS, even ... And here's the dreaded category, "value for money".. make no mistake, this phone IS EXPENSIVE, period, you might argument that "you pay for quality" but there's earth-shattering quality here, it's a solid phone, HTC, Nokia and almost everyone has solid phones over the 300+ range, nothing palpable in this phone makes it worth 500+ (and i'm willingly forgetting about the "scuff gate", the supposedly "manufacture error" of the first batch of iPhone 5). Now, if the "wow, i have an iPhone" or "i look so cool sending SMS in this" is worth the difference, this phone is for you. So, 2/5 here, in my humble view, the pricetag should be around 400-500 to get a 5/5 here, luckily for Apple, their users don't care about what i think.. :-). Summing up: good phone, good features, good battery life, based on its features and materials alone, incredibly expensive. If you want a solid phone, like it and don't care about the dent in your pocket, go for it, you'll love it. Still, there are excellent phones out there with a better price/value ratio that are able to do everything this phone does.
