    The C Programming Language Book is Great

    The C Programming Language book is one of my favorite all time programming books. The authors keep the subject matter simple and they do not waste any pages with fluff. Highly recommended book. Get the 2nd edition if you can.

    C programming

    This is a great book to start with that covers the basics to learning C. Also the material is used by a number of good instructors at the college level for teaching C as is commonly known as K&R C programming, after the authors and this is a book written by the same people that wrote the C complier for a UNIX system. This is a great source for learning the language. However, If you are interested in C++ or visual C this only covers the basics, and there are many more commands in the later languages.

    Original book by originators of C.

    This is a book about C by the originators of it. It is a concise book about a concise language, written before it was as widely used as today, but still recognizing it's benefits and its limits as those were by design. There are better books about learning C in today's environment, but I don't think there are better books about the insights and purpose that the language served in the early 70's. I have had a pdf of this book a number of years, but wanted a printed copy.
