Notes
The 61-year-old travelling storyteller, songwriter and political activist (Utah) is teamed up with 26-year-old singer/songwriter (Ani) on this must-hear release. The result is a "spoken word, storytelling, rambling saga-like hip-hop acoustic dance-trance album full of humor, insight and emotion." I couldn't have said it better myself. The record was produced by Ani and features "Bridges," "Nevada City," "California," "Anarchy" and "Mess with People."

  • Slightly flawed but a must listen.

Well If you can struggle through the first two tracks that suffer from to much Di Franco meddling you will find some classic Utah Phillips. Track 3 and on are powerful and moving storytelling of the kind you rarely hear, and they are backed by a nice ambient musical accompaniment. Good Story Selection by Di Franco and once you get the first two tracks she dose a good job of the music as well. A must listen for anyone interested in an America of Old, or the right album to turn you on if you didnt think you could be. This Anarchist, War Veteran, Folk Storyteller paints vivid pictures of a working class culture of independence and defiance all but gone today.
