Totally dissapoited
Scap motherboard. I returned it and received one with worst problems. It is visible that they fire up the GPU with a hair blower but that have been prove that is a temporary fix, that it is rare to last. And they said that before they ship their boards, they are tested all. Ha, ha, that is false. Why what I received didn't work direct from the package? It is a lot of work installing and uninstall the parts just for send this piece of junk. Why they wanted back if is irreparable damage. I have dozens of them.Scap motherboard. Fix it yourself but buy a new motherboard rather than a used one.
I purchased this motherboard 3 times before I got one that was a winner. The last one was advertised as new but the price was just a little more than the used or refurbished ones I purchased earlier. In retrospect, it would have been worth paying even more if it would have saved me from the frustration I encountered whit the used ones. This last purchase installed easily (I was an expert at replacing them after 3 previous tries). HP clearly made a mistake in the design of these computers and most versions of this particular series are known for the video failures. To try to keep the problem from happening again I am using an extra laptop cooler fan with the laptop and I'm not running any software (like 3D games) that would push the graphics system. These are nice laptops so I'm happy that ... I purchased this motherboard 3 times before I got one that was a winner. The last one was advertised as new but the price was just a little more than the used or refurbished ones I purchased earlier. This is one of several different motherboard models for the HP dv9000 series laptop. All of these boards had defects straight from the factory which present themselves after a time of use in the form of no video on the screen(blank screen), loosing wifi connectivity, loosing audio, loosing hdd detection, and loosing the functionality of the cd/dvd drive because of terrible design and faulty components ....mainly the Nvidia video chip and other chipsets. There are no "new" boards as some Ebay sellers would want you believe.... any of these boards on Ebay are in fact used and "rebuilt". Honestly, rather than purchasing a used or "rebuilt" motherboard for these laptops, it's better to just scrap the machine and buy a new one because these motherboards will indeed fail again, in a week, a ... Truly a great value and put new life in an older computer Highly recommend
I researched the problem with the daughers computer and discovered that a common problem with these computers are that it appears that the video chip gets so hot it burns up. This is an exact replacement for a HP laptop that belong to the daughter same part number so it fit perfect. HP has a pretty good book online on how to replace the motherboard or anything else. It is a long drawn out procedure to replace the motherboard but it works great now saved having to buy a new computer. I had installed Windows 7 ultimate and Office 2010 on it so it was a great deal being able to repair her computer. DV9000 MAINBOARD ISSUES
Works for DV9000 laptop. Used for my model DV9205US. The model itself lasts a long time. I've known a couple of these models to still to be working. Make sure to upgrade the BIOS when you get a chance. Was able to upgrade the Operating system to Windows 8 with the current processor. ALOT of common problems that have been occuring with the mainboard has been: not recognizing webcam. Not recognizing DVD drive. Not recognizing wireless card. Note that you have to do maintenance probably yearly on the heatsink compound over the processor. As it dries up if lapotop is used frequently or frequently on. I would recommend it for this laptop.
