    A Privilege to Read

    I used to think it would be great to have met and talked with C.S. Lewis. I've come to realize I'm too much of a lowbrow to have been able to do so. But perhaps this is the next best thing. By reading his letters to a friend, we are allowed to listen in on personal conversations --at least Lewis' side. Since these letters were not written to be published, they reveal a more casual side of the man, yet strikingly, the content is not trivial, as many of our letters might be. I don't buy books very often anymore, usually borrow them from a library. A friend loaned me this book to read one chapter, but it was too good. As I savored letter after letter, I realized that this was one of those books I needed to own. Lewis was an honest Christian, someone who wrestled with the difficulties ...
