    Oklahoma is a great movie if you like musicals.

    This is a set of two DVD's that were shot by two different methods at the original production of the film. There is a nice history of the two developments of the methods. The DVD's are in like new condition, and Oklahoma is truly an American Opra. Songs are great!

    Rodgers & Hammerstein's greatest musical!

    The legendary collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II had their very first successful musical together as a writing team with the classic production of "Oklahoma!" Following its triumphant victory as a Broadway stage presentation in 1943, it was adapted into a motion picture version in 1955. This film was shot with two sets of cameras, in the new 70 mm widescreen process of Todd-AO and again in the more established Cinemascope 35 mm widescreen process for the majority of theatres lacking 70 mm equipment. Rodgers and Hammerstein personally oversaw the film themselves to prevent the studio from making the changes that were then typical of stage-to-film musical adaptations—such as putting in new songs by different composers.
