When it gets wet, the guard slips. Also, the way it's designed, one one side of the trimmer blade can be used to cut. Over time, one side is worn out while the other is nearly new. I guess it would be okay for a quick trim up, but not for much more. I'm using the OE guard that came with the trimmer.
