Pianist/scholar Artis Wodehouse transferred the rarest and most desirable of the over 130 piano rolls Gershwin made for player piano to the Yamaha Disklavier, which reproduced Gershwin's own performances on a 9-foot concert grand (or, in the case of American in Paris, two concert grands!).

    George Gershwin Piano Rolls

    Great presence on this CD of George Gershwin playing his own music as piano rolls were cut to preserve his performances. I had always thought these would sound just a bit jerky and mechanical, but the overall impression is very natural. Just like having the composer alive and playing the piano in the same room. I am enjoying this bit of American musical history enormously.

    Fascinating and wonderful

    A wonderful way to bring the sounds of the 1920s to the 21st Century, with Gershwin himself delivering it on all but one of the tracks. The liner notes explain the technology, the history, and illiuminate the music and perormances themselves. Buy it and enjoy!

    Gershwin Piano Rolls

    It's hard to beat Gershwin. These are very clean and clear recordings. My hope is to find the rest of Gershwins piano rolls on CD.

    Truely amazing artistry!

    I love this CD. It offers flawless performances of Gershwin's brilliant piano rolls, digitally mastered for the Yamaha Disklavier. The results are stunning and offer well over an hour's worth of pure, crystal clear Gershwin. I highly recommend this CD!
