About this product

Product Information

Former publisher Acclaim's daring dinosaur-hunting series has been saved from the brink of extinction courtesy of Touchstone. Turok is a re-imagining of the franchise, a first-person shooter infused with aspects of stealth and survival horror, as players explore a planet rife with prehistoric creatures. Unlike the Native American protagonists found in the comic books and Acclaim video games, main character Joseph Turok is a futuristic Special Forces soldier on a mission to capture a war criminal named Roland Kane. After his spacecraft is shot down during its final approach, Turok realizes he no longer has the element of surprise. He must now rely on his extensive military expertise to defeat Kane's soldiers, genetically altered dinosaurs, and other creatures in the lush jungles of a hostile, unfamiliar world.

One of the game's distinguishing features, aside from the anachronistic theme, is the manner in which players can engage the enemy. Instead of blasting everything that stomps, slithers, or runs, players can lure dinosaurs to attack other creatures or soldiers by creating well-timed distractions. Stealth tactics involving bows and knives are possible, as is the more "direct" approach with such weapons as railguns, shotguns, and flamethrowers. Vehicles can also be used to help navigate the hazardous terrain, and members of Turok's elite squad will periodically assist players in coordinated attacks against groups of enemies. Up to 16 players can complete online in multiple game modes, including variants on deathmatch, capture-the-flag, and other team-oriented formats. Turok is Canadian developer Propaganda Games' first software release.

Game was priced great and arrived in advertised condition. Seller included a folded paper towel pressed against the disc and case to ensure it wouldn’t pop out during travel. Little attention to details like this are greatly appreciated. A++ great vendor

    Turok Review

I enjoyed playing Turok very much. I had played it many years ago and jumped at the chance to find it and play it again on eBay. It is a very different first person shooter in that you have a compound bow as one of your primary weapons of choice.

  • TUROK: Klingon for "Shut off that damn backgrnd music!"

Turok PS3 is pretty much the same as the XBOX 360 and PC versions,.. well 'ugly much' the same. While it retains the basic storyline, it is inferior in graphic detail and textures and has a jerky slowdown in framerate at several points in the game where the visual and technical action get intense. It is playable and even a good first person shooter both in terms of graphics and storyline,- although there are long periods of boring lackluster visuals and action, followed by occasional brief interludes where you find yourself actually enjoying the experience. TUROK is Klingon for "Shut off that damn background music!" As I more than eluded to in the title of my review,- one of the most annoying [almost unbearable at times] things about this game was the lack of an option to turn off the ...

  • Good Game, Could be Better...

When I bought this game I had high hopes considering I was a big fan of the original Turok for the Nintendo 64 when I was a kid. During the campaign, I was somewhat pleased throughout with the A.I. being quite challenging throwing different scenarios at you all at once. As with multiplayer, I felt the game play modes of Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, etc. were fun and interesting and kept you wanting to come back for more. The problems with this game that I encountered were the gun mechanics. I felt that shooting your opponent was kinda hard for the new first person shooter player and felt that it might take away from the game play for someone that was used to more of an auto-aim capability. Another thing, is that I felt they put too much emphasis on the knife. Throughout the game you have ...

  • great game to rent for non xbox live gamers

love the game. It's shorter than expected but other than that its really good I'd give it a 8.5/10. Not a perfect 10, only because it's an online only multiplayer. Since I don't have high speed at my house, but still play shooters with friends locally, that was a big disappointment. Also hardcore gamers more than casual will notice things that could have been there that weren't and some that could have been better. There are normal, hard, and inhuman levels of difficultly. I played normal almost straight through with ease, only a few times I was slowed down due it was nearly impossible to get through certain LITTLE parts. For anyone that was into the old ones on the N64, then I'd say its a must to at the least rent this and check it out, don't pass on this one! Thanks for reading, this is ...
