Created by well-known TV executive Stephen J. Cannell (HUNTER, THE A-TEAM, 21 JUMP ST.), THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO was an acclaimed show that was cancelled before its time. ABC seemed unsure how to market the show's blend of superhero action with comedy, which seems prescient in regards to later superhero satires like MYSTERY MEN and THE INCREDIBLES. Ralph Hinkley is a normal high school teacher who has a close encounter of the third kind, and is rewarded with a super-powered pajama suit. The problem is, he doesn't quite know how to work the thing. Gung-ho FBI agent Bill Maxwell knows Ralph's secret, and with his connections and the help of girlfriend Pam, Ralph travels around the world to save the day. The unfairly cancelled spoof can now be re-appreciated after years as a cult curiosity. This special collector's set gathers all three seasons of the beloved series, as well as cast interviews, and the spinoff which never reached the air, THE GREATEST AMERICAN HEROINE.

    It's a comedy/adventure series.

    It's a good show because it doesn't have to travel into outer space to some uncharted territory or planet. It's about a school teacher and a maverick F.B.I. agent who was thrown together by a encounter with a U.F.O. with a suit that has unlimited powers for the teacher can wear. Together they solved the worlds' problems and bring the criminals to justice.

    Greatest American Purchase

    This set has everything I loved from the series and more! In the special features you get interviews with all the stars providing some interesting thoughts when watching the episodes over again. The tin case is a stylish way to keep your collection. Now you can finally get your hands on the "instruction manual", but it's mostly just a light up prop and not really a compilation of all the suits powers (you'd have to watch the show to compile such a list yourself!). This collection also comes with Ralph's cape, albeit emblazoned with the moniker of the show. And I am still trying to decide if I want to apply the iron on patch of the suit's emblem that also came with. All in all there is one more satisfied customer and one less of this limited 20,000 piece collections. Get yours now!

    Good show with a few problems.

    The DVDs seem fine. The old batteries in the manual had leaked all over the manual. I have not been able to get it to work with fresh batteries.

    A Great TV show, brought back some fond memories.

    A great TV show form the early 80's. I love this show as much now as I did as a kid. Now I am able to share this experience with my own children. TV today is not very "kid friendly", there isn't many shows on TV that I would sit and watch with my kids. So what a better way to fix the problem than by purchasing TV shows on DVD from the good ole days. My kids love it!!!

    Every Fan SHOULD have one of these!!!

    The whole package is great! From the tin case to the Light-Up Instruction Booklet, I'm very pleased with this DVD set! The biggest reason for this purchase was that I can finally get my hands on the "The Suit's Instruction Booklet"! There are a lot of seasonal DVD versions of this show to purchase out there ,BUT, if you're looking to buy, every Fan of the "RED SUIT" should be looking for this set!
