A story to get hooked on
Warning - there is full nudity (mostly breasts and butts, but beware of disk 3-penis) - foul language used by characters when they are angry That having been said I love this almost as much as Downton Abbey. Believable characters. Even though there is time travel it is a period piece (historical fiction, not sci-fi). Jamie and Claire's Journey
The actors who play Jamie and Claire are very in character. They are very generous with their fans off screen. Diana Gabaldon is a great writer. I have never read a series of books that have kept me involved with the story as these have. She makes you feel as if you are there. I have never read any book that I want to read again and again I find things that I didn't catch the first time. Even though the tv series has to change some things it is still pretty close to the book. I enjoy being able to watch the movie anytime I have time. I have read the complete Outlander series twice and have purchased all 8 books in hardbound for my permanent use. I can only say that I am in absolute awe of the many, many literary skills and knowledge of human nature possessed by Diana Gabaldon as an author. She has created a literary masterpiece. Outlander is head and shoulders the best books I have read in a lifetime and I have read thousands of books of all genres. That being said, I have enjoyed the movie version very much as well. The season One video version follows the story line very well and does not get far into the first book. This is a complex story with many, many twists and turns and I think that it would be helpful to the viewer to read the books first. Fantastic show!
Outlander is such a great series, a bit racy at times though. It has everything action, romance and sort of a history lesson. My only complaint is, don't sit and watch it until you have a good day to view the entire season. It is very difficult to turn it off!
