GeForce 590 - underrated for what it does
I've had the air-cooled version of this card for nearly six years on my then $2500 desktop. It is a power-hungry card. It can burn 365 watts by itself - great for winter heating :) Originally, I intended to run it as a flight simulator. It can drive games at 5760x1080 resolution and around 40 frames/sec. Also, I have a DK2 and get solid framerates on the Oculus release titles like Farlands (medium detail) and Lucky's Tale. It's important that the title supports SLI or you will get a 50% performance hit. That said, this card performs between a Radeon R290X and a Quadro K6000. Passmark does _not_ account for SLI and the modern benchmarks use overkill on tessellation that drag the framerate down, especially for Radeon cards. A 970 does better at that price point. Another card to look for is the 690, the 600-series dual GPU cousin of this card.
