About this product

Product Information

Imagine a year without Christmas. No crowded malls, no corny office parties, no fruitcakes, no unwanted presents. That's just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they decide that, just this once, they'll skip the holiday altogether. Theirs will be the only house on Hemlock Street without a rooftop Frosty; they won't be hosting their annual Christmas Eve bash; they aren't even going to have a tree. They won't need one, because come December 25 they're setting sail on a Caribbean cruise. But, as this weary couple is about to discover, skipping Christmas brings enormous consequences-and isn't half as easy as they'd imagined. A classic tale for modern times, Skipping Christmas offers a hilarious look at the chaos and frenzy that have become part of our holiday tradition.

I'm happy! The book was as described & pictured, shipping was very fair and lightning fast. I'll definitely keep checking this seller for books I'm looking for. Or just books that look interesting--the prices here are reasonable enough to take a chance on an unknown book.

    Skipping Christmas

Anyone who likes John Grisham will enjoy a very surprising departure from his usual book themes. I am so glad that someone gave me a copy years ago. Now I am passing this excellent quality copy on to someone else.

  • Have you ever had the urge to skip Christmas?

A couple of new empty nesters face Christmas...and decide to escape! They plan to skip Christmas and enjoy a Carribean cruise instead. This does not sit well with the neighbors, the tree selling boy scouts, and their friends who expect the couple to continue with the holiday traditions. Mr. Krank is a whiz with numbers and has determined how many thousands of dollars they spend each year on Christmas and this year he's had enough. For half that amount, he reasons they could spend the money on themselves and really enjoy a holiday. But a big surprise is looming just over the horizon that will challenge the Kranks and their resolve.

  • Light hearted read - perfect for the holidays!

This is a really fun little read, and perfect for the holidays, or any time of year. I have read it several times, and gave away my copy but missed it so much I ordered another to read again. :)

  • Literary Genius- truly amazing

I must admit- when my mother pulled this one on me I avoided it for months....then I got bored one day and opened it. I found myself laughing out LOUD. I couldn't remember the last time a book made me do that. I couldn't put it down. I remember reading it the first time simply shocked that legal thriller mastermind John Grisham wrote this book. It is worlds away from what he normally writes. It only took me slightly over an hour to read this book- it is very short and easy to read, but finishing the book absolutely blew me away. Putting it down I walked away knowing I had just read the best book I had read or was likely to read in years. I read this book in June so whatever time of year read it anyways, it will put you in a good mood even if holidays are months away. This book seriously is ...
