Benchmark headphones at an affordable price.

They are a little tight at first, but they rapidly conform to your head. I don't know if I would call them lightweight - they are a substantial set of headphones. So much has been written about their benchmark sound that there is little to add. They are a reference point which allows you to evaluate the honesty/coloration/clarity/balance/spatial characteristics of other headphones. I would also recommend a good set of IEMs, like the ultra affordable Truthears, as a reference. This is my second pair - I sold my 600s years ago and have regretted it ever since. Better headphones than the Massdrop 5XXX. If in doubt, buy them. I don't think you will be disappointed.

  • Excellent sounding headphones if a bit clampy

Sound quality is great and crisp. Recommend using a DAC and a headphone amp when listening to these to get the most out of them. These have been tuned very well. They are all-day comfortable, even though they (like most all Sennheiser headphones) have a tight clamping feeling on my head. I would recommend these for sure. These dynamic driver headphones will make a great addition in your listening arsenal.

  • Really nice set of cans for the price.

At first, I was a little bit not enamored with the Sennheiser “signature” sound. It is a little different. For me, they need just a bit of EQ on the top end (just a note; I am a 61 year old man) but after that, and getting acclimated to them, I’ve learned to love them. And that’s coming from a guy that’s used to Grados. I still like my RS2e’s and my SR 80’s, but the Senns give me a different perspective, and for some genres, they work really well. Especially jazz and bluegrass. The Massdrop version (HD 6xx) of the HD 650 are really nice. Only thing I didn’t care for was the cable. Too short for my purposes. But, a standard 10 foot replacement cable from Sennheiser was reasonably priced and it is terminated with a 1/4” plug instead of the 3.5 mm, which I like better. Highly recommended!

  • Great but needs an amp, they scale with power

These are the Tom Hanks of headphones, versatile and good for almost everyone. They scale with power, an amp isn't optional to hear how good they really sound. Steady voltage to handle the peaks helps a lot. Best amp I've had with these was the SMSL SP200 but the Magni Heresy was terrific too. The Topping e30 DAC and original Atom DAC were really good with them too. They peak a lot higher than 300 ohm so pack some power to handle the voltage swings at high volume.

  • Item came in as described

Have been using these for about a week and have had no issues with them whatsoever. They've showed little to no signs of use and are just like brand-new.
